Tried a few spots this last weekend and didn't have any luck.. have any recommendations on where/what bait/what time of day/set up etc?

We tried livers, hot dogs, and cheese, tried by magnolia bridge and in a subdivision lake good friday night (full moon, does that matter?) It was around 8pm-1am with next to no bites.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. TIA

Ever try behind the levee? I'm not much of a catfisher, but I know a lot of people smoke them out there when the water gets high (which it is now).

My brother does very well on the other side of the levee. He lives right across from it, so it is a short walk. It is not public though where he goes.

Could you be more specific when you say "behind the levee" I mean it sounds like good advice but whereabouts does this happen besides just driving along the river and looking?

MS River bank behind the levee, tightline with a good reel that'll let you sling it out there, use shrimp...you're welcome

That place I was telling you about should be money towards the middle of next week. MS river is dropping fast.

I always fishes at night, less heat but then again you have the sketters, I usually would go when it was cool and during the winter.

Sounds like good news for us slick. As far as Old River is concerned.

I hope so. I don't know if they're expecting another rise or not.

I can't wait to get out there. School/work/new baby has been severely hampering my fishing time. At least I can bring my wife and kid out there with me to the camp.

I can't wait to try out my sac-au-lait Alabama rig.

The west bank in St James and St Johns parishes seem to be more friendly to folks fishing over the levee.

Pretty much all there is to it. Crawfish work too, we'd dip net for a few before fishing.

Damn couldn't tell you the last time I went catfishing. Use to go on the Tchefuncte all the time and slaughter them during the winter. Wish I had more time.
