Any opinion or experience on these boats, in particular the 31xs?
Thanks

Beside the fact that they are fricking awesome what else would you like to know?

Heavy, takes waves well, nice boat. My experience was with a 21' though.

I have a 31 w 300s. Runs awesome, smooth, fast, dry, pretty much the cream of the crop in that size range. Plenty of space, not much storage. Tough as nails.
What do you want to know?

My father in law has a Cape Horn.
I think one of the best things about the boat is the berth. When you walk from one side to the other, it hardly moves it is so wide. Tough as nails too.

I have a buddy who is selling one if interested. No problems with it, he just has access to a huge cat now.
My first boat that I bought was the 16. We abused that thing in med school and never had an issue.
I have never been out on the 31.

Do they still just have the one fish box?
Not to piss on yall's parade, but that just wont fly on a long canyon trip and you negate all that nice deck space putting a 400 qt ice chest on board. Also, I seem to remember them having a small fuel tank for a boat that size.
That being said, i've bottom fished on a 31 and it is a great riding, very stable boat.

I'd rather a 29 Regulator powered the same. Just seems like the ride would be better. Speed and fuel efficiency would be better in the Cape, but storage, ride, fit and finish...
ETA: The Reg looks a helluva lot better IMHO.

Not sure about the others you mentioned but they have huge fuel tanks for the size of the boats.
31 has 290g
27 has 180g
24 has 145g
They are big, wide, heavy boats.
ETA the Regulator 29FS is $160k with 225
the Cape Horn 31 xs with 2x 300hp is $145k

I like them both, but would only be crew at those prices.

I have not fished on a Cape Horn but ran across a slightly used on it is seems like a really good deal.
The draft is a little deeper than I would like at 22" (would be parked on Southern edge of Choctawhatchee Bay - Destin - a fair amount and it gets shallow there). The boat just seems like you get a whole lot for the money (I wouldn't be the only investor).
I think they are great looking boats as well. The XS means extra seating (good for the family) and also allows easy step-up access to the bow, which I like for throwing a cast net to make bait.
