Restaurants in Bossier City...
Posted by TigerATC06 on 4/10/12 at 1:05 pm00
Me and the wife are heading up for the Eric Church concert in Bossier City this Friday. Anybody from the area that can suggest a worthwhile place to eat before? We are staying on isle of Capri near Diamondjacks. I have never spent any time in the area. Thanks.

What kind of food? Price range?
re: Restaurants in Bossier City...Posted by TigerATC06 on 4/10/12 at 1:10 pm to Rohan2Reed
really anything. We are not picky. No more than 50 an entree

2Johns is a nice steakhouse. That's about the only thing I can recommend to you - you're staying right on the river - venture over to Shreveport. While there aren't a lot of great choices there, it's a million times better than Bossier.

Double D's Ranch
Seriously, though:
- 2John's: nicer steakhouse- VERY close to $50/person, if you aren't big drinkers
- Kobe: Japanese/Hibachi
- Jack Binion's: In the Horseshoe, also kind of pricey, resy recommended
- Notini's: Pretty good Italian food on the cheap. Not much of a drink selection, but the tea is AWESOME!
FYI- The Isle of Capri is Diamond Jack's now.
ETA: Right over the bridge in S'port is Blind Tiger- LA Food with great drinks
Noble Savage: Food is real good, can be pricey, but most is in the $10-15/plate range

If you want to stay in Bossier I'd recommend 2Johns or L'italiano.
Downtown Shreveport you have Blind Tiger or Noble Savage (great food and usually has live music, but smoking is allowed so depends on if that bothers you).
If you want to venture to south of downtown Shreveport there are many places I could recommend, but it may be a little troublesome for someone's first visit to the area.

The other posters are right that the choices in Bossier are slim, but there is actually a really good Chinese restaurant a block from Diamond Jack's. It is called Lucky Palace. Check out the link.
It has a strong local following, but it is located in a shady motel so you will kind of have to take a leap of faith. The house specialty appetizers are great and there are are some really good authentic items on the house specialty menu. Our favorites things to get are the duck on scallion pancakes (the best thing on the menu), pirate boats, the salt and pepper trio, home style duck and the imperial steak. Lucky Palace also has a shockingly good, and reasonably priced, wine selection, which is not something you would expect at a Chinese restaurant. It gets the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence pretty much every year.

L'Italiano. Hole in the wall place. Best Italian food in 50 miles. Very moderate prices. 2Johns is good but much more expensive.

Ernest's in Shreveport is semi-upscale and has some fantastic seafood dishes. For Italian, Olive Street Bistro is very good.

Texas St. Tavern is right in front of K Mart and is good.
2nd to Lucky Palace. alajones2 and I eat there all the time. It is round around the corner from Diamond Jacks.
Ralph & Kacoo's is easily the best place for Louisiana food and it will be less than 50 bucks a person. It is on Old Minden Rd.

Another option is Texas Street Tavern on the corner of Airline and Texas St.(Hwy 80). Here's a Yelp review: Yelp

seriously?
Ernest's and Blind Tiger are both a lot better. Even Oyster Bar and Shane's are probably better than Ralph & Kacoo's.
OP, if you're looking for a place to grab a quick lunch near your hotel on Saturday Kim's on Benton Rd. does some good poboys.

not a bad suggestion at all, webstew.

Excellent place. Not to be confused with Olive Garden.

Ralph and Kacoo's is not nearly as good as Copeland's off Youree. Shreveport is not famous for Cajun food. I'd go with Italian or Mexican.

If I had to. choose between Texas St Tavern and 2John's, I'd take 2John's every time. I thought Texas St was pretty pricey for what you get.

When I was a youngster the family and I used to go there every Easter after church to eat and listen to the Bill Bush Combo.

sorry my fault, I didn't see you post that first. I like that place as a lower-priced steakhouse. better than the chains and it doesn't completely rape your wallet.
