So gathering what I've read on hear from local sports commentators and folks with inside sources the realistic list is looking like:
Johnny Jones
Reggie Theus
Josh Pastner
Quin Snyder
Tim Floyd
Scott Drew
How would you guys rank these folks in order of preference?
(I'm not including Jamie Dixon because like Bubba stated he just took a commitment from a son of his pal)
Updated my post due to the fact that Scott Drew will listen to LSU...As I stated in a previous post the new coach will want to keep Timmy Byrd close)

1. Tim Floyd
2. Reggie Theus
3. Johnny Jones
4. Quinn Snyder
5. Josh Pastner
I'd be happy with the first four candidates listed. I believe all four could do a good job. I'm usually not a proponent of hiring mid-major coaches with little or no head coaching experience in larger conferences, but Johnny Jones would probably fit this program well given his background in Louisiana and the south.

And don’t underestimate the importance of Scott Drew to Baylor. The reason that Johnson was able to take the TCU job is that it was opened up when Jim Christian went to Ohio. In other words, based on the movement of the coaches, Ohio is better than TCU, which is better than LSU. And Scott Drew wants the LSU job?
Extreme logical FAIL.

Out of those I'd go with Pastner. I'm not sold on him yet but he is young, learned under Lute Olson, can recruit, and has a lot of potential.
College basketball is one of my favorite sports and I always find coaching changes interesting.
Here are some more realistic coaches.
Blaine Taylor - Old Dominion head coach. He's won at both Montana and ODU taking both to the NCAA tournament. With rumors out there that VCU and George Mason might be leaving the CAA to join the A10 he might be interested in moving on himself.
Blaine Taylor
Scott Sutton - Oral Roberts head coach. He's done an impressive job building the Oral Roberts program. He is Eddie Sutton's son and I'm sure learned a few things from his dad. He knows the area and might be ready to move up.
Scott Sutton
Larry Eustachy - Southern Miss head coach. He has won everywhere he has been. He has winning records with Idaho, Utah State, Iowa State, and Southrern Miss. He won a Big 12 title at ISU and has turned around Southern Miss's program. Neither of those are easy tasks. He was let go at Iowa State eight years ago because of a drinking problem but has been sober since then. Any fan of a Big 12 team will tell you he can coach.
Larry Eustachy
Archie Miller - Dayton head coach. He's only been a head coach for a year but he is also only 33 and has been an assistant under Herb Sendek at Arizona State, Thad Matta at Ohio State, and with his brother Sean Milller at Arizona. He would be a bit of a gamble but he is young and has learned from some very good coaches.
Archie Miller
Here is a long shot.
Buzz Williams - Marquette head coach. Earlier there were reports that he might consider SMU. Rumors were that he and his new boss weren't getting along. Both the president and AD that hired him have moved on in the last year or two. Combine that with him being from Texas and who knows. Maybe if the money is right he might want to head back towards that area of the country. Since the SMU rumors he has reaffirmed his commitment to Marquette but we all know how much that means to most coaches. If LSU is looking too spend some serious money he might be an option.
Buzz Williams
And here is a big gamble for you
Kelvin Sampson - Former Oklahoma coach. His show cause ban from the NCAA is I believe over with. So he can now return to the college game if a program will hire him. He's a very good coach but he got in trouble at both OU and Indiana. I believe it was too many phone calls that got him in trouble. If your AD thinks he can keep him in line there is no question the man can coach. I've seen Scott Drew and Quin Snyder mentioned on this board. If you want to take a chance on a coach with possible NCAA trouble Sampson is a better choice.
Kelvin Sampson
College basketball is more fun when the conference teams are good so I hope whoever you all hire ends up working out or is at least interesting. Good luck

Pastner, IMO, has the most upside. But he brings uncertainty as well due to his youth. I think a run at Pastner makes a heck of a lot more sense than settling for Jones, which makes none to me at this point.

If we can somehow snag Drew and get his commits, along with LSU's...

My list is the same. We need to throw the bank at Drew if we want quicker success, imo.
If Scott Drew is listening we should be talking.

No we should be throwing the bank at SHAKA SMART.
