they've had to restructure quite a few contracts to fit it in along with other FA moves...
This, plus I think Vilma would be a necessary casualty. Not sure who else is expendable with a big cap number.

If anyone can do it, it's the Mick.

Saints and Brees are preparing to announce a 5 year deal for $115,000,000

Yikes, it sounds like part of a Bounty Deal (keep it on the downlow but, whatever you do, don't lie about it to Roger Goodell!!) bcuz Drew is best defensive player we have - he keeps opponents off the field, or pressures them into constanly scoring to keep up.

First off, thank you for putting the word "rumor" in your thread title.

I really appreciate it.

Second,

I think Loomis has Drew by the nuts to get a deal done around the 21-21.5 mill range,

What?

Pretty sure each man has the gonads of the other firmly within their grasp. The very least Drew will get is his Franchise tag money, should he elect to accept that. Loomis can avoid another round of this next year by getting a long-term deal done. If Brees holds out, the whole house of cards comes crashing down.

Well, even though he already restructured if Will Smith is suspended the entire season he is one of the higher paid contract players on our defense. That could potentially free up a good bit of money, along with Vilma as well.

There is also the decision on Ellis, his # is quite high for last year's low productivity, but without him the proven depth at DT is incredibly slim pickings.

This thread is not good for my emotional health. I'd rather not hear anything than hear something that would get my hopes up that might be true.

fricking right, I just got pumped as hell

I don't understand 90% of the responses in this thread..

Bunch of people getting excited over a deal that decent.. but would be better for around 21 mil per (then I would be pumped)

And then a lot of other idiots that don't understand the word rumor. Either that or just like being random internet cock weasels.

Considering it is only a rumor I will take it with a grain of salt, but I hope it is true. Thanks for posting it either way, and not trying to imply it was anything other than a rumor. Money seems a little high, but who knows how it is structured, but at this point I just want to see Drew signed long term
