What's the most stupid thing you have ever seen for sale at the grocery store?

The top of my list used to be packaged, frozen peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but I just saw a package called "Hamburger Fixin's". It consisted of 4 slices of tomato and 4 slices of onion sitting on a couple of pieces of iceburg lettuce. All for the bargain price of $4.85. Who in the hell would buy that? The only people I can think of is someone who doesn't own a knife.

There is something about buying pre-fried bacon. I know the argument, I'm busy, it saves time, blah-blah, but, c'mon..you can't take the time to fry bacon?

I feel sorry for people who think they are so busy they don't take time to do simple things. Pushing processed food into children is terrible.

I noticed "fajita fixins" at the grocery for the first time last night. Green and red bell pepper strips and onion for $3.00 or something like that for a very small package.

Albertson's has a refrigerator case for dog entrees. Not canned, not bagged dry food. Actual dinners at refrigerator temps for your dog this evening for dinner.

This is quite obnoxious. You get just a few crackers, some meat and cheese, and a whole shitload of plastic to throw away. It's the most expensive cracker sandwich you can buy.

Also, virtually anything with the tag phrase, "As seen on TV"

All the prepared food in the produce section is a racket. Is it really that hard to sprinkle some olive oil, salt and lemon pepper on some asparagus? It must be, otherwise they wouldn't charge double in comparison to regular ones.

They're everywhere now. My local AG store even has one. I spend tons on my pets over the course of a year, but this is ridiculous.

Some people just don't like left overs. Rather than buying a whole tomato, head of lettuce, onion, etc. they get the already prepared food in portions that they want. Others would rather overpay by $2-$3 dollars to save 5-10 minutes of prep and cleanup.

Those are the rationalizations, there are others that just don't know any better. I used to buy frozen precooked diced chicken in my bachelor days. I was single and made enough money that I didn't question what I bought. When I first started dating my wife she pointed out that I was paying $7/lb for frozen chicken and I was shocked. I had never really done the comparison. It was a product that met my needs at a price that I found acceptable until I actually compared it to alternatives.

If you're too busy to fry bacon, you're too busy.

I honestly hate any protein stuffed w/ some sort of breading stuffing.
I like pork/beef/chicken and I like stuffing. But the two things don't cook at the same temp or length. Why the hell would you put them together?

They make the best chum.

As to the precut tomato/lettuce, I'm pretty sure it's because people just don't stop to do the math in their head to realize that they're paying like $3 for someone to slice their tomato for them.

I also believe that people tend to think of food prices in terms of restaurant prices. The serving of precooked frozen chicken and peas doesn't seem crazy at $5, because that's less than you'll pay for chicken at a restaurant.

1. Pre-assembled hotdogs & buns. God forbid you have to open a package of hotdogs AND a bag of buns.

2. The cookies that are already laid out on the mini cookie sheets - because if you're going to eat slice & bake cookies you may as well be baking from scratch.

I love the boneless stuffed chickens from Hebert's in Maurice.

Lunchables are extremely convenient and take no time to pack when you're packing around kids.

Some of the refrigerated meals for pets are the raw diet deals that a lot of folks believe in.
