Seems like it's been a while. Is it a fluke considering the unpredictably of the tourney coupled with the supposed closing gap in talent?

2 Big East: Syracuse, Louisville
2 SEC: Kentucky, Florida
2 Big 12: Kansas, Baylor

1 B1G: Ohio State
1 ACC: North Carolina

Well considering everyone but ACC fans knew the ACC was overrated this is not much of a surprise.

Wait...what? What does this have to do with no small conference teams making the E8?

All 8 of those teams were in the top 13 of the preseason polls.

Actually I'd just seen that it's one of the few without a mid-major in the past decade but in thinking about it I'm sure Memphis is responsible for a lot of those. Davidson, George Mason, VCU, Butler, Xavier were some others though in the past few years, of course.

However, for all I've heard about parity recently, the final eight are all high major, high profile programs.

That's 5 national championship winning coaches, 2 others that have played in the title game and come really close... and Scott Drew.

considering the number of early round upsets i'm surprised. but then you can make the argument that makes it easier for the big boys to get through

Random stat of the night: Kentucky is 6-0 against teams in the Elite Eight this season (Florida three times, Kansas, Louisville, and North Carolina).

In the last decade, '08 was technically the craziest year with only 5 of the 8 spots taken by power conferences.

Although it's hard to not call Memphis a major school in basketball since they are tied for 9th all time in total # of Elite 8 appearances.

weird. looks like a team that most people like to give shite for choking has the most appearances on that list. crazy how that works.
