The wife and I just started watching these over the weekend. We're through the Order of the Phoenix and really like where they are going. We're going to try and finish the final three this weekend.

What is the M/TV board's opinion of the series? I never read the books but hear they are even better.

It's awesome. And most here would agree (not all though).

The second one (Chamber of Secrets) may be my favorite, but the third to last one (Half Blood Prince) may be the best one IMO.

I grew up with HP, and every time a new book or movie came out was like Christmas. The series is pretty much a kids series through the first 2, but then it gets darker and way more complex. When the 7th book came out I read it all in one day. If I were you I'd read the books too... There are a ton of explanations that make things better and a lot of little moments that they can't possibly include in a movie because theyre irrelevant tonthe plot. Just cool tidbits about being in wizard school and stuff.

Definitely read the books. There's so many more details, sub-plots, and basically too many things that the movies were forced to leave out because of time constraints. They will always be my favorite books.

They are good movies. The first two are like kids movies and IMO Prisiner of Azkaban is the best.

My favorite book in Half Blood Prince and oddly (or not) it is my least favorite movie.

Read the books.

Pretty high, but the films greatly vary in story quality. You'll hear most of the book fans hating "The Half Blood Prince", while most non-book fans its one of their favorites. The books are much better though.

My least by far. As I said, it greatly varies by who you ask.

I liked the series, and then with the Goblet of Fire I really started to like it. It struck the right balance of being dark, but not too dark.

I think the problem with Half Blood Prince, as a movie, is all of the pensieve(sp?) scenes. As you read them, they were great, but seeing them kinda slowed the movie down a bit.

However, Order of the Phoenix is my favorite book and movie, although Deathly Hallows book is a close second.

movies are a good substitute for the books... why waste time reading when you can get through all the movies so much quicker.

I think Order of the Phoenix is my favorite so far with Chamber of Secrets being a close second. The first was necessary to understand the back story but it was my least favorite.

The acting at times can be spotty. Rupert Grint is great, but Emma and Daniel are hit and miss.

I honestly think those were my two least favorite movies. HBP was a great book, and the movie was probably good, but knowing what was left out ruined it for me.

Chamber of Secrets was by far my least favorite book. While I liked HBP, you have to have a 6th favorite, and I think that one is it.

My younger sister drug me to the movies to see this one with her. Before that I hadn't seen any of the movies and thought the books sounded dumb. After leaving the theatre I told her to get the books out because I wanted to read them. Now it's probably my 2nd favorite book series.

Goblet of Fire is my favorite book, however I do not think that the movie can compare to the book. The movies are good, they just leave so much out.

it really isn't close at all. The books are almost a different story. I read a lot, but that is the only series that has ever held my absolute attention for so long. Its a shame that the story is over
