Lin's endorsement deal with Volvo

How obvious is it that the only reason he got this endorsement is because of his race?

He got the endorsement because of his fame.
His fame is because he plays for a team in New York and was pretty good for a while when his team went on a nice winning streak. It is also because he is asian.
Volvo endorsement was not "because of his race".
Bad logic

He's an average NBA point guard. Why would any company give an average PG a 12 million dollar endorsement deal? China is the largest country in the world with basketball as its second most popular sport. If he was black, no way he gets this contract because of his marketability.

No I'm simply saying that if he was another race, he wouldn't have gotten this endorsement deal. It has nothing to do with his "superstar" status that the media gave him for 2 good weeks of basketball.
