What's everyones thoughts on DLC

I've got mixed emotions. It's always nice to get that extra content but I feel like it's just a cheap way for them to push out games faster and then make us pay for the stuff they didn't have enough time to put in.
I'm bringing this up because of the outrage over with on disc DLC with ME3 and street fighter vs tekken.

doesn't take up space on my hard drive
The DLC for ME3 was 600+ MB that has to go onto the hard-drive.

A lot of games have the first dlc on the disc already.

I view DLC (that doesn't suck) as a way to extend the life of a game.

As for my opinions on DLC, I agree with the aforementioned statement that quality DLC worth the investment should be seen as a way to prolong the gaming experience. Weapon packs/character outfits and the like do not follow under that category for me.

The rumor that i heard about the DLC for ME3 being almost required to finish the game isnt true right?

That particular rumor is false.

another argument to bring up. Do you feel that we are entitled to everything they finished and they should only work on DLC after the game is released.

That doesn't account for the down-time between when a game goes gold and when it hits the street. I'm not sure I believe BioWare when they say that they worked on DLC after the game went gold, but I do know there is a period of time between those two events where a developer can work on DLC.

It's absurd to judge downloadable content as a whole, so I'll break it up into specifics:
I think that extra content purchased via microtransactions is a fine and reasonable addendum to an already complete game. Now what is meant by "complete" will vary with considerations like what the developers claimed would be in the game and basic intuition about what seems to be missing.
Lionhead charging money for black fricking dye in Fable III can be construed as nothing other than mockery of its customers, because dying clothes was already a mechanic included in the original product. Worthwhile DLC to me is content that is actually new and generally enhances the overall game experience - not reused modules from the initial release, not a different hue of something from the initial release, and certainly not a fricking dog costume. On the other hand, something like horse armor from Oblivion is often cited as an example of the ridiculousness of the whole microtransaction trend, yet I think it has merits for improving both gameplay and your character's "aesthetic".

sad thing is everyone can bitch about this sort of stuff but people are going to keep buying this crap and they are going to find more ways to nickel and dime us. I'm just ready when EA tries to force us to pay monthly fees to play online.
