Normally when i fish crank baits I am in at least 4-5' of water. Noticed i really don't have anything i can throw in shallow water.

I am looking for a suggestion for a crank bait to fish in 1-3' of water. Looking for a small bait that is heavy enough to chunk out there and cover a lot of water. Conditions are lots of timber/laydowns with almost no vegetation.

Either a 100 series bandit or a KVD 1.5 or 1.0. Less than 3 feet of water pretty much confines you to square bill. However, with lay downs and wood cover, that's exactly what you want. Hope that helps.

I love bandit cranks, but do they make something that runs shallow?

Links to BPS shallow models:

All of the 'shallow' options would run a bit deeper than i would like. Really looking for something that runs a bit shallower.

If they have a model please link, i am just not aware of it.

Baby 1 and baby 1 minus are clutch in any environment. I find they are like crack for bass

Yeah square bill is exactly what i am looking for, really nothing else to consider with this set of parameters.

I haven't fished with a Mann's brand lure before, how do they run? I am looking for a bait with a wide wobble.

The bandit 100's list a depth of 2-5'. If i throw one in 2' of water is it going to dig on the bottom the entire run?

Lots of love for Mann's crankbaits here. Never fished one. I guess I'll pick up a few to try next time I go to the sto'.

I've heard good things before, just never picked one up. Picked up a couple bandit 100s at the sportsman show this weekend I'm looking forward to trying.

If you keep your rod tip down it will. Keep it a little higher up and you shouldn't have any problems.

Roger that, i love my Bandit lures so i will buy at least one or two 100's and apply your suggestion when in the shallow water.

I see some love for Mann's, i may need to checkout that brand since there is some love out there. I am obviously missing out on something since i haven't even tried one.

It's pretty simple for me. A Baby 1-minus will run in 1' or minus of water. I don't have to hold my rod tip higher to make it do so, and (although I haven't tried the Bandit 100s in this application) will stand up to 8-10 lb redfish. I don't bass fish much, but if you're looking for a crankbait that'll run in very shallow water, the Baby 1-minus is a no brainer.

It should also be noted that...although I don't fish for bass much, I catch an awful lot of them while redfishing in Delacroix/Reggio...on Baby 1-minus lures.

I've heard good things about them for bass, but even more for reds. Need to pick up one or 2 for each of my tackle boxes.

The Baby 1-minus is noted as an add to the tackle box.

Smithwick Rattlin Rogue..while its really a twitch bait, you can fish it with a steady/pause retrieve much like a crankbait or twitch it.

A deadly lure for sure.
