Nothing. Price will remain at the current level until Lent is over. After that the price will slowly begin to fall.

As long as people are will to pay $3.50 per pount why would a sell drop the price?

Guarantee that the farmers will spin it to their benefit.

Here's how the memo that is sent out to all the farmers goes:

"Well....We gots too much ___________."

(Fill blank with one of the following)

cold weather
hot weather
rain
dry weather
windy weather
(Any other frickin' excuse you can make up)

".....'Dats goona drive dem prices up, you know?

You know how you could for sure make prices drop? If people quit buying the bugs.

I haven't bought them in 2 years (not saying I haven't eaten any, but I haven't paid for any).

Can't make myself pay upwards of 2 bucks for crawfish.

Me neither. I cook em, but I haven't bought them.

My brother-in-law bought 2 sacks (32 and 36 lbs) @ $3.19/lbs. Thats $217.00 for 2 sacks...F-That!

Luckily for me he trusts me and let me cook them. They came out perfect

Due to the drought conditions early this season, expect to pay higher than usual prices for crawfish this season.

Fast forward to March 15th:
Due to unexpected extreme rainfall received throughout the state, the price of crawfish will not lower after Lent and consumers should expect to pay higher than usual prices for crawfish until they are gone again.
