Gel tek recoil pads

Bought my son a youth model 870 express and after a box of high brass shells target shooting and getting used to the gun he took his shirt off and was one big bruise. I noticed that the stock recoil pad is as hard as a rock and was wondering if anybody had any experience with gel tek recoil pad or something else that might help.

Limbsavaer has one for the 870. I have a factory gel recoil pad on my I-12 and I rarely feel after effects of a couple boxes

If your actually worried about the affects of the recoil on his shooting(flinching, closing eyes, etc) then go with either a precision fit Limbsaver or a Pachmayr decelerator. I have the Gel-tek's on both my sporting guns, it's more designed towards a smooth mount that wont hang-up when mounting then reducing lots of recoil. It would be better then a plastic pad but there is far better options on the market.

Thanks guys for the input I worry cause he isn't a complaner and could tell watching him throw in baseball it was bothering him.

i have heard that lead in the stock works well too, just makes the gun heavy.
