Goodell sees bounty case as a turning point in NFL’s culture change

“This is a seminal moment in the culture change we have to make,” a source close to Goodell said. “This has to stop now. Every team needs to hear the message that we’re in a different era now, where this appalling behavior is going to end.”

The source told King that when Goodell first heard the allegations of the Saints paying bounties, the commissioner said, “God forbid this is true. This will be earth-shattering.”
"God forbid" Earth-Shattering" WTF

Hitting hard in football has to stop now?
I fricking hate Goodell. I'd love 5 minutes alone with him and a baseball bat. Godamnit he is a such a bleeding pussy. Worst NFL commissioner. I've never hated anyone as much as i hate this piece of shite.
We didnt hurt anyone that bad the whole time GW was here. I dont remember anyone being carted off the field. He already has fines in place and refs watching for excessively violent hits. This isnt a turning point in the culture as much as it is a turning point in the pussification of football. I hope another league starts up soon so i can stop giving money to a league run by this bitch arse punk.

I don't understand his logic on this one. Players can kill humans (stallworth), slaughter dogs, and beat their wife. They are all allowed to continue their career. But the earth will fricking shatter if we "take somebody out" on the football field (which we haven't).

Goodell can't sympathize with NFL players because he hasn't played football since high school. IIRC he played for a small all-white high school so...
Saints are fricked

Bounty gate and the concusion class action lawsuit mark the beginning of the end for pro football. Football will be watered down until is so boring you can't watch it.

This is very possible and this will truly be a sad day.

It may mark the end of NFL football, but football will never end. Another league will pop up. One not managed by pussies and us hardcore football fans will never let football die. It could use a nice shake off of all the bandwagon an fantasy fans IMO.

Call me crazy.
But if I have the choice to either take an office job making 45k a year (And be injury-free) or go to the NFL making multiple millions a year in salary and endorsements (but risk serious injuries)...I think I'd still go with option two.
There's so much money here.
In some way, these guys are actively choosing money over personal safety.
Higher risk, higher reward.
What's so difficult about that?

Goodell is probably ecstatic the Saints landed in his lap. We all know this is happening all over the league and has been happening for years. Goodell gets to nail the Saints to the wall while protecting his marquee teams. Could not be better for him.

Here comes the National FLAG Football League. Why even HAVE lineman and linebackers anymore? What is their function in the new Flag Football League?

The NFL pays millions of dollars to defensive players to physically collide with offensive players. They are paid to use their body to intentionally keep a man from going forward. How can the NFL be upset when a player gets a bonus for doing what he is already getting paid to do.
