Ok, part of being a Tiger fan is having a favorite player. Mine is Kenny Hilliard at this point in time.

Since the backfield is probably the most talented in all of college football, and since Ware and Ford are now upper classmen, and since Jeremy Hill is possibly a beast that could make it onto the field sooner-than-later, and since Blue has come on of late and is seemingly a favorite of CLM, what is the chance of KH getting the percentage of carries he should get? Throw in the CLM RB-by-committee philosophy, and that makes it even hard to figure.

Question 1: Will KH emerge as the starter?
Question 2: Will KH get the majority of carries in 2012?
Question 3: Will any RB on the team be the "main horse", defined as getting 50%+ of the carries?

Not even sure if Les could answer your question. Why don't you just sit back and relax and see how it unfolds.

I doubt it.

Probably about the same amount of carries as Ware and Ford.

Excellent question.

KH will be a monster this year just like he was last year. I do believe he will get the majority of the carries though, unless if Ware plays like he did in the Cotton Bowl last year. It's gonna be hard to say if he or any RB will get 50 percent of the carries though. A very talented backfield with way too much depth.

once someone starts for Les, they start for life. Ware will get 15 carries for 35 yards every game for the rest of his LSU career.

First I will explain how I came to my conclusion, my reasoning.

All the guys will get a shot. Guys will get carries, even if its late.
When you get your shot, produce. You will get the ball again.

If Hilliard ONLY stays as good as he was the last month of the season, he will get carries from game one. And he may get a little better at some phases. If he gets better in some phases, he will be a starter for sure. he's already really good, and he's got spring and summer to work on his game.

He not getting 50% of the carries. No one is. The game is too rough. TR lost part of a season due to injury. He is injured again.
He got the glory and the Heisman. And two injuries. RB's go fast.
RBs are the shortest career in football. So dont covet 50% on his behalf. Did hester carry 50%? We need a Hester, a guy who will take it with a yard to go and get two. I think Hilliard can be that guy. Obviously he and you have additional dreams for him.
But I have a minimum optimum. If you have the guy who can get you one hard yard, you cannot lose. Its really hard to lose if you can make 4th and one in a big time game. Les and I both really value being able to make 4th and one. That's Ohio State vs Mich.
That wins championships. I hope he is at least Hester and if he is Jim Brown, winning the national championship for Syracuse, all the better.

Your guy will get the ball in big games vs the best defenses.
he will get carries vs Alabama.

Whether he is the MAN, or just one of the very good 'stable' is up to him. Its all up to him. He will get his shot.

Personally, I think that other players have a bigger upside, even though I feel sure Hilliard will be a starter in the NFL.
He has years to go. Les expects them all to work on their games, and improve incrementally in technique, and with their units.
Maybe some day he will have earned 50%. I dont see it at this time.
There are some other guys I would hand the ball to, too.

Like everyone says, maybe #2, but we will not have a man. Whomever is hot will be the RB.

if someone out of the group of running backs emerges and proves they deserve to be the "main horse" then they will become the main horse. I think we have had running back by committee because that hasn't happened yet. I just don't see where one or two backs have separated themselves from the pack. If they did separate themselves then I don't think Miles is necessarily philosphically tied to running back 'by committee'.

Max

will you submit to bannage back to BYU when the facts belie your attempt to criticize LSU's HC?

Spencer Ware averaged 4.0 yards per carry in 2011.
More in 2010.

Therefore, you are full of beans.

If you can produce better than all other backs then of course.

2008 all backs had their chance and Scott was the best of the bunch.
2010 even though Ridley already had the starting job, he was clearly the beat of the group.

I'm leaning towards a one two punch of Bash and Slash with Hilliard and Ford. With Blue as the third down back.

You say it like it's a bad thing!? That depth is the reason why there was NO drop off in production when ware slowed down

We will not have a Man. Too many running backs, which is a good thing. Time will be split as it should be.

I think we need to use Ford and Blue as more of a receiving threat. Screen passes, dump offs, etc..

I want to see Ware in the later parts of the game when the defense is tired. Man we are stacked at RB. But I do agree that Hilliard should be the starter.

This really comes down to Spencer Ware. Bottom line.

I think we all know what we have in Hilliard, Ford, and Blue. We know their strong points and weaknesses - and can reasonably project how they will play under most any situation.

But last year, we saw two entirely different Spencer Wares. The guy over the last 5-6 games was a shell of what he had been earlier in the season (when he was showing capabilites above and beyond what all of our other guys can provide).

Does anyone know for sure the reason(s) for his sudden regression???
- Did he wear himself out, and therefore can be expected to regain his dominant form in 2012???
- Did he suffer some kind of injury, and therefore can be expected to regain his dominant form in 2012???
- Did his suspension cause him to lose focus and attitude, and therefore we do not know how this will play out in 2012???

I certainly don't know. But one thing I do know is that if Ware can regain his angry/attacking running style of the first 8 games of 2011, LSU is much better off with him in the game as much as possible.

I'd be thrilled, as long as KH got 16-20+ carries per game.
