The offense we saw with Lee? This is a serious question. How much did Les have in the game plan with the change in quarterbacks? Could the Tigers still try to run the ball 75% of the time with Mett at QB? Was that game plan in the national championship game all on Les or was it a well thought out plan made by Stud and Krag with Les just fine tuning it? Will the play calling be more balanced and will Les now let his coordinators do their job?

Saban's players. Saban's system?!?

Seriously, none of us probably know.
Why did we run first? Our talent dictated it?
Was it miles, was it the qb's?

Will confidence in mett/ol/wr's open it up?
$4M/yr questions.

Open it up? Can we just let the offensive coordinators do what they are paid to do. Let Les just take care of clock management. What did I just say? How about just being the team spokesman?

I'm curios if a more balanced offense equals fewer wins what will you have to say? Will you continue to beg to throw the ball more or will you bitch because we aren't running it enough?

The offense we saw with JL ran almost as much as the one we saw with JJ...while JL passed more, it wasn't a pass-happy O the first 2/3 of the year. Both O's depended on special teams field position and defense to pound out commanding wins.

FWIW, I think we throw even more with Mett...but you're kidding yourself if you don't think we take advantage of special teams, D, and our running game to pound out wins.

But we can't win w/o a more balanced attack. Why would we not gameplan to our strengths. You sir are making too much since to post on the Rant. Please discontinue posting in the future.

the problem with that is that you won't beat a team like Alabama by trying to overpower them trying to pound out a running game. We can beat the lesser opponents doing that, but we need our offense firing on all cylinders and ready to go by the time we get to that point in the season. Pounding out victorys against the pee wees isn't going to get us ready for the big boys. We need to run the offense that we need to run right out of the box from the first play of the first game and right on through the season. Miles says he is going to have a change of offense philosophy this season. We shall see.

It was successful, even on 11-5. The only team to have success moving the ball was GSU, other than LSU.

Glad to see that we can finally agree on something. I agree totally with what you said. This is not the Big 10. Bo never won a national title. We are not Michigan South. A balance needs to be struck and Les needs to let his coaches coach. The defense and special teams will be solid again this year. If our offense becomes solid, we will not be embarrassed again when it counts.

I definitely expect to see a very run-heavy attack. It's Les' style man. I mean Jamarcus could sling the ball more than anyone in the nation but when we played a good team you could count on us just pounding the ball and throwing the short slants. Then if we're down late and NEED a deep ball we'll go for it. With everything I've seen from Les since he's been here I think we'd be fools to expect him to come out and just be throwing the ball all over the place.

Here's an idea...how bout we let the most successful HC in LSU history, the HC with the most wins among all BCS schools since 05, the HC with the most SEC wins since 05, and the HC with national rankings of #1, #2, #3, #5, #8, and #17 since 05 do what the hell he thinks is best?

For LSU to have a banner year, Miles can't meddle one bit with the offense. He needs to let his offensive coaches run the offense and just get out the way.

doesn't need to come out throwing the ball all over the place, just needs to balance it out. Throw a little bit when it's unexpected. Throw vertically every now and then, not as much horizonally. Kind of mix it up the way Bama did last season.
