On ESPN. (paraphrase) Said yes there was bounty pool... first int got money, first sack, first big hit for a loss. But to say we were giving money to injure or end a career was ridiculous.

I hope this is what happened

He spoke on NFL Network as well. Stating that the risk of injuring a player for such a cheap price would never be worth the amount they'd have to pay for a fine. He said it was never like that, because it would be a dumb decision to do so. Solid point.

of course no one was paid to end someones career but the mintue you say paying players to hit harder, added to the already persona of the Saints playing Dirty...youre going to get the pussies saying " O those bastards should give up their Super Bowl" fricking lame. This shite is going to take a while to come out of and the penalties wont come for a while either they wil do more investigating.

You gotta love how the media put a certain spin on things when it suits them.

Going to be real funny if the worse thing that happens is some fines and a slap on the wrist.

The money was going from player to player. I'd be willing to bet it was about bragging rights more than money. Vilma was the leader of the D and offered a reward to whoever could do their job, get to the quarterback, and knock his arse out. I hope Dunbar keeps up the practice after he takes over. Or maybe Jenkins will head it up. Either way I'm for it.

ETA: I bet this made our D better than it would have been, and i dont have a problem with it. We didnt hit dirty these past couple seasons, we just hit hard. Really hard.

I'm all for hitting hard and playing harder for incentives...but let it be in your contract or just for braggin rights. dont do things that are going to eventually hurt the team and the orginization. The next two years we may be sitting back going " Damn we could have that guy i the first round and now hes a beast"...just saying

The NFL will never allow hard hitting bonuses in contracts.

I'd argue that the rule should be changed. They werent paying each other to make illegal hits, so this shouldn't be a big deal. The organization wasnt paying them to do it. The players were putting up their own money. The NFL shouldn't do anything about it, because there shouldn't be anything wrong with it.

Would be nice but Im afraid its going to be more than a slap on the wrist. Been a lot of information on injuries etc. as of late and Im afraid going to be a real tough punishement. Hope not but I guess we will have to wait and see.

I was referring to the system they currently use for performance based incentives inc ontracts i.e. interceptions, sacks...I know the NFL would never give extra pay for harder hits..I've been waiting for Nike to reveal their new NFL Flags for the new league line. lol

I completely trust what Sharper said. He has no reason to lie. He has nothing to gain or lose. Think about it for a second.

just heard him on NFL Network a few minutes ago. He said that players have put up money like that since he has been in the league for big plays. He said that the "bounty" put on Favre by Vilma is nonsense. I'm just worried that we may have draft picks taken away. Goodell has been on a helluva power trip since he took over.
