I am very confused by the salary cap in the NFL besides it being a threshold of total salary payment.
My question stems from the recent restructuring of Will Smith's contract where his total salary payment has now become a guaranteed bonus. Why wouldn't every team structure low salaries with high guaranteed bonuses?

We re-cut a piece of pie, saved money this year but spread it out over next few. Yeah, i don't know what i'm saying but it sounds okay enough.
