Who ya got... I know most will say neither but lets say you are required to watch 1. Which is it and why?

I'm keeping up with both. I like Alcatraz better and I can't tell you why.

Required to watch one, go with Alcatraz. And my reasoning is that for some reason I find the whole idea a little more intriguing, although thats not really saying much.

I'm not one of those people to piss all over shows, but I think your time would be better spent enjoying another show with a better plotline.

Haven't seen the most recent episode of either one, but I think I prefer The River just because Alcatraz didn't feel like it was getting anywhere. They both have a lot of questions to answer but it felt like The River was answering them with a little more regularity while Alcatraz just kept introducing more.

Both have been disappointments, though I'm still able to enjoy Alcatraz. River jasmine more episode to impress me more.

The dialogue in the river has been pretty terrible.

With the exception of blondie the acting in Alcatraz is much better.

Wish both were done in a better way.

I think I agree with this. I really hope both get cancelled so I don't have to keep watching. I know that sounds weird, but once I'm on that train, it's hard for me to get off even if it is headed in the wrong direction. When I start a show from the pilot, I rarely stop watching. Likewise, if I miss the pilot I rarely start watching even if people say it is awesome. I'm not proud of this, by the way.

The River is an absolute mess but I still watch it. I gave up on Alcatraz. Felt like a chore having to keep watching it every week.

Alcatraz is one I planned on watching, but just never did for some reason. I've heard mixed things about it. But I am actually enjoying The River. It's not great TV, but it's good TV IMO and there haven't been many shows like it (maybe American Horror on FX?? But I never watched that one).

I actually love Alcatraz, but don't waste your time because it looks like it's getting cut to one season and who knows how or if they're gonna wrap up the progressing story lines.

Since neither show has delivered the goods thus far I'll reduce my criteria to The River having the better looking blond. The River gets the nod.

I thought the second episode of the river was amazing... The one with the natives and the guy under the tree. Other than that I think they have both been let downs

I like both. Since there isn't much else on those nights, I'll continue to watch. Hopefully they both get a second season just to try to get the story really going. (I think Alcatraz will take the rest of this season to set up what's happening) Once they get more inmates/guards in the "new jail" it might make it more interesting (can spend an episode listening to them try to piece things together)

No, hell no. AHS was approaching greatness for those that enjoy horror, especially from a storyline and character development aspect. The River is just a mishmash of shite with Blair Witch thrown in. None of the characters can carry the show, whereas most, if not all, of the characters in AHS were very interesting. AHS 1Mx > the River.

FWIW, Alcatraz is more interesting to me but far from good TV.

I'm watching both series and both are mediocre even though they have (or had) a ton of potential. If I gotta watch one, I'm easily watching Alcatraz. Much more interested in that storyline compared to the magic in the Amazon.

it looks like it's definitely on the chopping block. It's probably not 100 percent, but there's a better chance it won't be back than that it will.

i agree both have been a pretty big letdown, however i enjoy the river alot more then alcatraz. gave up on alcatraz about a week or 2 ago because every episode was the same (catch the next prisoner then introduce something semi-interesting in the last 5 min of the show) i do agree it is an interesting concept though

idk why i like the river, the characters aren't very likeable although the black camera man has grown on me, i guess im just interested in seeing what supernatural phenomenom they're going to encounter next each episode, that and im pretty interested to see where the hell the dad is
