How does this affect our chances with Prevot. I had heard Texas was very tight on room for D-Line in this class. With Prevot being from the Houston area, I figure it between us and A&M if he doesn't go to Texas. How do you guys feel about this?

Prevot didn't get an offer from Texas and likely won't. I think we stand a great chance with him now

Dang, I thought UW had a shot at him. He just moved to Texas from Seattle. Maybe we can sway him still...

I didn't know that. I guess you can throw Washington into the mix then.

That means we're up against Tosh Lupoi as well as Bo Davis. We'll find out quick what our TX recruiters are made of.

The biggest thing might be his family circumstances. Who moved to Houston with him and who still lives in Seattle. He might be too close to the family that he lives with in Texas to be so far away, or something of that nature. I have no clue, I am just throwing ideas out there.

Going to tell him the say thing the told Davis about Ridgeway last class... Prevot is going to be looked at as an SDE and therefore a WDE does not change his recruitment..

Will be interesting to see how this plays with Ward from OK... one of those guys will be up for grabs

He might even be moving back to Seattle for his senior season. He hasn't decided yet.

Hall is the one from Washington not Prevot.(not aimed at you Tdawg). LSU wasn't after Hall though he is impressive. Prevot did get his offer and is a Texas lean. He says he'll visit us and TAM 1st and decide before summer. If his offer is still good as expected then I don't like our chances.

Washington will be in the thick of things with Hall if they choose to be. Tosh Lupoi is as good as it gets as a recruiter and Hall isn't a native Texan so no allegience is there for Texas but he sounds very solid from the comments I've seen tonight. He certainly shows no signs of going back to Washington for his Sr year. If he does then Texas will likely drop him. They can't keep an eye on him way up there.

Hopefully we can impress Prevot when he visits but I'm not completely sure we would take him before Williams and Beckwith have gone further in their recruitments. I think we would but not convinced we would. Certainly seems as though we want 3 DEs though.

Recruiting Beckwith as a LB...CLM told Beckwith he would be the only LB in this class so I'm sure Prevot would be a take with Williams as the two DE's

Recruiting Beckwith as a LB

First I have heard of this. Of course, I am not subscribed to any premium sites right now and am waiting for 247 to get their shite straight. Seems that this would be more of a counter strategy to Bama's recruitment of him with him probably switching to DE after. He just seems to fit Chavis's mold for a DE too well.

Spot on. If he's being recruited at LB by LSU then it's pure pitch. He is not going to play LB at LSU. He wants to play LB and will do all he can to try and impress there but he isn't fluid enough as an athlete and nowhere near fast enough. If he plays LB at LSU then he'll be on the sidelines his whole career. He's a DE at LSU. I have no problem with our coaches selling him on LB if that's what it takes but will not be pleased if we pass on legit LBs for the class to do it. That would be a complete waste. Claiborne and Jones are legit LB prospects for LSU, Beckwith is not. Just my opinion and some may differ.

something doesn't connect here. if beckwith is ONLY lb in class then claiborne is out since he can't play anywhere else. may we then take jones as DE and switch he and beckwith later.

You're correct imo about something not connecting. I personally just don't believe the bit about him being the only LB in the class. The word is 1 or 2 but I don't think Beckwith would be the guy if it was just 1.

We're taking a full class. There is no way we take only 1 linebacker. We have to get to 25 somehow. Beckwith won't be the only LB, possibly the only OLB, but that's much different.

I still say Beckwith, Claiborne and Jones are all takes.

we just offered reggie chavis from houston sharpstown as a mlb. claiborne and jones don't have offers and looks like one of the two will eventually be left out.
