Everyone keeps saying how next year we will be even better but with Storm and White graduating we will have no one with any experience to back them up. Do we even have some guys on the radar that will be able to come in and contribute? This concerns me because Storm has been a big part of our improved play down the stretch.

This is THE number one concern within the LSU program right now. He needs to get at least one guy 6-8 or taller.

The smart play is to get a JC guy so that you don't scare off some of the post players we're in on for the 2013 class.

They've talked about this Orlando Sanchez guy at Monroe College in New York, but in recent reporting Sanchez isn't even mentioning LSU.

We ought to be scouring JUCO's in Texas for 6-8 bangers. We need to sign at least one along with Geert Hammink's kid and this Coleman guy from Thibodaux who's at Howard College.

Ironically enough, there's a 6-8, 240-pound banger at Howard College named Calvin Godfrey who was at Iowa State last year before getting busted for weed. Godfrey actually had better numbers at Iowa State as a freshman than Justin Hamilton did. If Trent thinks he can handle the smokin'-dope thing, that might be an easy solution - just take Coleman and Godfrey as a package deal.

There is no doubt LSU needs depth in the post and I firmly believe that they will sign a junior college player, or two, to take care of this problem. That accomplishes the goals of immediate experience, plus not causing issues for the 2013 class of recruits.

I have not seen or heard where LSU is in the mix for Godfrey. He was a very highly recruited player (Hamilton was a project) that had problems at Iowa State as you mentioned.

I do know that LSU has been scouting and recruiting JC post players. They only names I have are Sanchez and Carter, alhough I don't think LSU will sign either. Sanchez looks like he will stay in the east, and Carter has a knee injury.

I think a signing class of Morgan, Hammink, Coleman, and a JC post player or two would be solid.

Trent Johnson has shown the willingness to take transfers, so don't be surprised to see him take one in the off-season, especially since he will have scholarships open. That won't help for next year, but a transfer post could replace Hamilton the following year.

There will also likely be many coaching changes, which puts prospects back on the market. There will be many new names surfacing that LSU is recruiting in the next 6 weeks.

We also should not confuse lack of news with lack of recruiting. LSU has been recruiting Shane Hammink for over a year, and offered him in the fall. Not only did no LSU news outlet know about the offer, they didn't know Shane Hammink existed. Most still don't.

need a post and im hoping something surfaces with another 1 who can spell hickey and develop into a solid player, whether he's a juco or a high school kid

Post - Need badly, maybe 2.

PG - I thought Stringer did a really good job last handling the 1 most of the game. Hickey was on the wing and running baseline most of the game.

Yeah but we need someone to take Bass's spot, he is our best PG defender. He made the final stop last night. I'm not sure I would want Stringer for the whole game at PG if Hickey were to be hurt or foul out.

Understood. I am sure TJ must feel confident with either Malik or Issac at the 1 if he isn't bringing guys in. Stringer has been our best on ball defender the past 4 to 5 games (minus Bass).

I can live without signing a point guard. They can use Hammink as a point in spots since he's 6-6 and that would create a size advantage. Plus you ought to be able to get a few minutes a game out of Stringer at the 1.

But mostly it would be to your advantage to demonstrate a need at that position for 2013, since it would help you sign David Taylor (if in fact he's who you want).

Yes, it looks to me like LSU is forgoing a PG this year, to concentrate on a real talent at the position -- David Taylor or someone else, maybe two players.

I have no problem with Stringer as the backup PG. He plays good defense and has really improved as of late. He played a lot of point last night and played really well. Hickey, Stringer and some combination of the other guards on the roster are more than enough to man the PG position for next season.

im cool with waiting to sign taylor and having him as a frosh and hickey as a jr.

i wouldn't mind signing just 1 post and adding a wing who can score ( in addition to morgan) if one of those becomes available.

Cothron just got busted for weed. He's a soph and already at his third college. I don't know about the others.

Actually, that was from last season. He was suspended and is now back with Southern Idaho.

Orlando Sanchez's rivals page says he is HIGH for Tex A&M

and three Big east teams and Florida int.

I will pull for Kennedy to get him at TAMU since he's not even considering LSU at all.

We should be looking at Hammink's twin brothers. They're a year behind him at Canarias. Be nice to add all 3 of Geert's boys
