How many do y'all think they have to win in the tournament to get in the dance?

if he's referring to the SECT.

If we win out, we are almost guaranteed to be the #4 seed thus receive a first round bye. I say we win in the quarters, but that would put us up against Kentucky in the semis. I guess we could beat them but we'd be about an 18 point underdog. So, we'll make it to the semi's

His question is how many do we need to win in the SECT to go dancing if we win out regular season.

I'd say we need to beat Kentucky in the semis to be garaunteed a spot in the dance. If we win out & lose to UK we'll be squarely on the bubble & have to hope for no upsets in conference tourneys around the country.

Of course, many of the smaller conference tourneys are played next week. We should have a better idea of our chances after those play out.

LSU would have to win two, with one of them being Florida or Kentucky (the likely opponenet in the scenario) to get a real serious look.

thats how i see it.

with one win, LSU will most likely be left out. (and i will be pissed)
with two wins, LSU SHOULD be included, but COULD be left out.
If that happens, I will break things and quit school.

you guys really dont know how the selection committee works do you? WIn out the rtegular season, and win 1 game in theSEC turnament, LSU is in. The committee pays more attention to the end of season and how you are playing then what you did in Nov or Dec. Go asks teams like Colorado and Va Tech the last few years who got left out but had good resumes, but struggled at the end of the season. Going 8-2 or 9-1 your last 10 carrys ALOT of weight.

I agree with this, but I still think we are a bubble team even if we don't win a game in the SEC Tourny simply by winning out. We could very well be the 3 seed in the SEC simply by winning out...that would be good enough to be on the bubble IMO.

This is a weak bubble. LSU wins out and they get a serious look regardless of what happens in NOLA. If we are the 4 seed, we will probably play Bama or Miss. St. in the Friday game. A win against either would put us in the Tournament.

Looking at some of the teams that are considered in at this point (Arizona, Illinois and Minnesota), this is a weak bubble and a 20-10 (10-6) SEC team with an RPI in the mid to low 50's and a top 10 win (and 8-2 in the last 10) will get LSU in the conversation. Add another win over Bama or MSU and we are a lock.

Alabama finished 12-4 last year with BACK TO BACK wins over Georgia (one being the last game of the regular season followed by a win over Georgia in the SEC tournament)

Alabama loses to UK in the second game of the SECT, only to see GEORGIA who they just beat TWICE get in with ZERO tournament wins and a 9-7 conference record.

If we know anything about the committee it's the fact that we just NEVER know.

All depends on how many upsets in confrence tourny's.1 or 2 more than normal could be bad.

If we win out through SEC semi's were locked in. This could happen as a 3 seed is still feasible, though not likely. Other than that (unless we beat UK) we would have to cross our fingers.

Here is some interesting info on our chances for tourney and seeding. LINK
