Looking for a new Grill...
Posted by St. Pete Tiger on 2/18/12 at 8:12 pm00
Propane, too lazy for charcoal one. Looking @ the Weber Genesis but retails for 699 (seen it on sale here and there).
Had a Charbroil Home Depot special that lasted 4 years but is now basically high-heat black paint and rust (even covered).
Don't want to go green-egg route either.
I do basis burgers, steaks, pizza (yummy on grill), etc...
Thoughts?

I don't think I'll ever kick out a lot of money for another gas grill. I know exactly what you mean out of convience with the propane. I've just seen too many that just never last. It doesn't seem to matter what brand. Every single one I've ever had and everyone I've talked to that's owned them says the same. 4-5 years and they go to crap.
I'd recommend to just buy an el cheapo small gas grill for when you want to cook something quick and invest in a big solid charcoal smoker pit for the big stuff.

I have the cheapest Weber they make. I think it is the Spirit 210 and I think it was $375 or so. Much better grill than all of the BS fake stainless steel with crap insides that you find for low prices at Home Depot and Lowes.
I can get mine up to 500 degrees in 5 minutes and it cooks awesome.

I have a Primo like the bge and with a torch can have it to temp in about 15 minutes.

I just bought a weber q320. I cooked on it twice and I'm already in love with it. It is my first gas grill. I didn't have the room for a bulky grill like the genesis, so I went a little more compact.

This is what i'm getting here in the next couple of weeks. Local dealer has them at $999. He had some on order and has my name on one. I'm just ironing out some things for the table i'm gonna build for it. Primo oval XL.

I have both the Weber Genesis and the Big Green Egg.
The Big Green Egg will change your life.

I wouldn't rule out a BGE because of laziness. It's not high maintenance. Had mine about a year and don't ever anticipate going back to gas.

I agree. The BGE is very little maintenance, I only empty my ash once every couple months.

I have 2 Weber Q grills, the 100 and 200, and I love them. Give the Q-grills a look before purchasing.

Your grilling/BBQing license should be revoked.
