Before i start, I'm not saying i'm for this...

Would anyone be against signing Allen Iverson to a few 10-day contracts (however many 10-day contracts without signing him for a full year...)?

He's looking to play in a minor league.
Why not do it as a PR move, get a few hundred extra fans (maybe even a few thousand for the first few games) in the seats...

We need help at the PG position.
its not like we have anything to lose (other than playing time for the younger guys).

I'm not trying to win the Bower Trade Machinist award, i was just wondering how bad you guys would hate this idea.

Do it right before a home stand... wouldn't hurt my feeling. One of my all-time favs. I'd go to the games he played in.

i wouldn't hate it. I wouldn't love it. Normally I'd say hell no. This year kinda has me all confused. It would be a big joke if they did. IMO they wouldn't anyway.

An old, ball-hogging guard is not what we need right now if youth-development is our goal.

Why?

I'd rather sign a guy who has a hope of being on our roster as a backup next year than a guy who had to get a release from the Grizzlies because he couldn't accept being a backup.

A ten day contract could literally hurt nothing. But he seems like that guy with the mindset "I'm too good to sign for ten days like some D League fool." I imagine some team in need of scoring would've gave him a shot if he were open to ten day contracts. I wouldn't want him for the year.

To what end? We've already met this year's attendance bench mark.

This injury update lists Jack as questionable but everyone else as out for the whole 5 game road trip. LINK That says to me Jack will be back soon.

I don't hate it, I just see it as a pointless side show that shouldn't really be considered. I'd rather take that money and get Will Ferrel to wrestle a bear at half time if we're doing publicity stunts.

I'd pay money to see that.

Here's my answer:

No.

this is the NBA, you don't do PR signings to get fans to show up. This isn't the Arena League.
if you want fans in the seats, win basketball games.

signing Iverson wouldn't make a single person on this team better. I'd even go further as to say it would actually demoralize some of the younger players.

...i hate Iverson.
He and I got into a little heated exchange during the Hornets/76ers playoff series years ago.

Memphis did it as a PR move a few years ago, it didnt work. Iverson is about Iverson, a zebra cant change his stripes

Only way I'd consider this is if I had a strong team that has a strong leader and needs one more piece to win the championship. And even then it's a big risk.
