while stuck in traffic.

Some people will remember that to be quite honest, I'm not a fan of his in any way, shape or form. We have not recruited hitters with great frequency and we have not developed players in terms of their approach at the plate.

I was interested to listen to this guy as I've never heard him speak prior to last night. I came away convinced more than ever that he's a huge liability for our Baseball program.

The main theme was that our pitching staff handcuffed the team's approach on the bases and at the plate. We couldn't be as aggressive as "Coach Maineri wanted us to be".

In other words, the collossal ineptitude of our pitching coach held us back from implementing the plan that the head coach wanted (and not necessarily me).

When asked about the biggest changes we'd see, he stated that, "We won't be coming to the plate down two runs," and that shocked me as well.

The guy took absolutely zero responsibility as a coach for what happened in the batter's box or the basepaths last year, and talked about how much the pitching staff will help him this year, and how much it hurt him last year.

I really am surprised that this guy didn't break down anything different about bunting less or a more fundamental change he made with anyone. Very surprised.

But then again, not surprised at all. This guy's a joke.

Very interesting.

CPM doesn't take-on any blame either. I like and trust these guys but it's funny how they alway reflect any blame.

I disagree. PM took the blame for overreacting to the bat changes. The guy takes ALL the blame.

Man that is about as false of a statement as i've seen on here. The guy has put all the blame on himself. He even admitted to loafing and said in essence it would never happen again.

I will say that Paul admitted he turned his program over to his assistants way too much, & he also admitted that on a fundamental level, they over-reacted to the bats changing as well.

I dislike Maineri because of his retaining Sanchez & providing cover for him, but other than that, I think he's proven to be a pretty good coach.

But Sanchez is in charge of hitting, & we haven't hit for sh!t outside of the can't miss recruits we've brought in. We do not hit up and down our lineup, period.

The worst third base coach in the history of the game.

We were 3rd in the SEC in team BA behind Florida and Vandy, I think.

I'm not a big Javi fan, but can you post the hitting rankings for us the last few years to prove your dislike for his coaching?

I remember the ones from last year, but not the previous years, looking for some data to back up this supposed below average hitting by LSU under Javi as the hitting instructor.

To be honest, I'm trying to access SECsports.com & SEC Digital Network, but I'm evidently behind 5 Firewalls.

(Props to anyone who got that last one)

No seriously, it won't let me pull it up. I'll iPhone it in a bit.

The base running last season was whack.

Its been ultra aggressive since Mainieri got here, regardless of who is coaching 3rd. Thats his philosophy, whether you agree with it or not.

I heard the same stat last night. We scored 18 runs a few times. I believe there's a saying about statistics, but again, that's all we have to go on.

It's probably an illusion because of the lack of power. I'll try to get stats.

i feel like our hitting stats last year seemed really skewed. i did not think we hit very well despite what the stats said. maybe my perception is off though.

seemed like we racked up a ton of meaningless hits.

if you mean hits without RISP, you are prob right....but its hard to pin that on the hitting coach and more on random bad luck
