According to Jason La Canfora, Lofa visited with the Saints yesterday. No other details.

I dont like this...at best he is a special teams guy..I think we need to go young with the LB position. then again what do I know i trust Loomis and Payton.

Maybe, but let's not forget that he was one of the best LB's in the NFL for a while before he had an awful year, then disappeared. He may very well still suck dick, but this would be a major low risk/high reward move.

ETA: Pretty sure he's only played MLB, so this would say something about Vilma.

He's always been a middle-inside guy. I see three things...

1- Vilma condition might be questionable, especially when considering the $5mil he is due this year

2- Tatupu can play some OLB

3- either doesn't matter if he can be signed for a near vet minimum show-me type contract after being out of football last year

What did I say? I had a should we thread last month. Not saying we'll sign him, but doesn't this at least prove that I think like the Saints front office? I think it does. I should have won the Payton Blues.

I think Dunbar wants to start. The only way I think he comes back is if they decide to part ways with Vilma.

On the other hand what does Lofa want? Does he mind being a backup? I'm sure he's not expecting a lot of money, but does he want to go to somewhere he can start?

playing behind vilma, you get the best of both worlds.

he won't be 30 until November...if he's re-energized and cheap it could be a lot worse

*Lofa Tatupu has been making the rounds after sitting out last season, but if he gets back in, his new team will have to be comfortable with his medical condition. Specifically, Tatupu has suffered a number of concussions, as well as knee injuries. Teams are more concerned about whether or not Tatupu can make it through a season than whether or not he still has ability. The linebacker still can make plays. The Saints and Titans kicked the tires on Tatupu last week.
