"The Walking Dead" is absurd thread

I have never been more committed to watching a show I despised so much. Since the weekly episode threads are filled with people who get mad at us for pointing out that the show is fricking horrible, I was hoping to consolidate the hatred so I can read it later and laugh about how awful the show is compared to how amazing it should be.
90% of the characters are unlikable. The writers give them the shittiest dialogue then draw two minute conversations into ten minute conversations by making them struggle through each word and pause after each sentence
The people are retarded. Out of all the people we see only two, Daryl and Shane, seem to realize they're living in a zombie apocalypse. Everyone else just skips and dances around like it's a normal god damn Tuesday afternoon.
The writers managed to drag what should have been a two episode plot point across half the season. This is painful.
The show should instead be called "Let's talk really slowly about existential questions and argue a lot. Oh hey is that a zombie? Nope, never mind, anyway back to arguing."
No one behaves like any intelligent human being with a survival instinct should. We see the grabbing these bloody disembodied dead (once again) zombies with their bare hands and tossing them in a truck when it's been shown that their blood can easily infect you. Then ol' girl just hops on the tailgate next to the pile of bodies and turns her back to them. They've already shown the capacity to come back from the dead once, is it really wise to just chill next to a bunch of dead, infected bodies?
FOR GOD'S SAKE LEAVE THE FARM
That's all I've got for now.

I watched season 1 and the first episode of season 2 and said "I'm out"...I walked away clean with no regrets.

I've watched like 4-5 episodes of season 2 after watching season 1. I'm really not liking it very much either. If it was the zombie apocalypse I definitely wouldn't be prancing around arguing over stupid shite like most of these characters do. I DON'T GIVE A shite IF AN OLD MAN DOESN'T WANT THAT ANNOYING BITCH TO HAVE A GUN. Let her shoot herself so I don't have to hear her dumbass anymore.

I think its a deeply flawed show that is still enjoyable to watch. I find the "MORE ACTION!" critics to be completely off base. I actually think in retrospect, the pacing problems aren't that bad. Especially because it is being commented on by the characters themselves. I like that they are being confronted by their bad decision and haunted by the failure of what was clearly a wild goose chase.
I don't agree with those who think the show is flawless and I don't agree with those who despise the show. I rather like the slow build, as a results in great moments. the last 10 minutes of the last episode was simpyl terrific television, and it required that slow build. The last season ended on a great moment, built up over 8 episodes. You could feel the character's frustration because you were frustrated as well, and you identified with his "ENOUGH!" speech.
Dialogue and character are the biggest problems, though Herschel is rapidly becoming a fascinating character study. Shane already is. Daryl goes back and forth, but he's great at being the voice of the audience. It's a show that also has flashes of greatness, which keep me coming back.

It was moving downhill for me towards the 2nd half of season 1, but I have to time to give it a shot, so here I am.

It has the potential to be so much better. The first few episodes had an amazing mix of action and drama, then with the season 1 finale they pretty much set the tone for "frick you, viewers. We're going to talk a lot."
I think the biggest problem is that the writers made the audience absolutely loathe a lot of the characters, so they hate every word they say. If we had some positive emotional ties to them we'd hang on their words and feel for their struggles. Instead every word they speak is just reason to hate them further and wonder why they haven't died yet.

that's kinda where i'm at.
i dont need the show to be a first person shooter.
but there a bunch of characters i don't care for.
but i find myself watching not because i care what happens to them, but more because i want to see how a random sample of a zombie apocalypse unfolds.

Absolutely not. Mediocre TV is a show that aspires to be nothing but background noise. The networks are polluted with mediocre TV (SEE every CSI:Insert City Here). TWD at least attempts to be great. It often fails, but it certainly isn't mediocre the way 90% of scripted dramas are mediocre. It's not a show that you'll have to remind yourself that it did actually exist and aired some time around this era.
The show actually strives for something.

No, last night's episode reinforced all my negative feelings about the show.
The characters are absolutely miserable pieces of shite that no one cares about. They then spend almost the entire hour having those characters talk about deep, philosophical issues with no resolution.
Then at the end of the show they throw in a minute of excitement that moves the plot forward by about three inches to keep people coming back.

This is where I'm at. I've seen a few epsiodes at the beginning, and just didn't think enough of it to want to follow it through a season.
I don't get the love for it. At all. I think almost every woman who I'm Facebook friends with friggin loves the series.
It is better than those vampire/werewolf series though. Particularly that absolute crap on HBO.
