Fishing Cane River

Me and a buddy are planning a trip to Cane River next week. Does anyone know which launch would be good? We are going to be coming from the Alexandria area so a launch on the south end would be good. We have never been there and any help would be appreciated. Thanks OB!

There is a launch at the damn, then one at Shell Beach. The entire lake is fishable, but last week, the farther Nort I went, the muddier it got. I'd put in at Shell and fish South if it were me.

Take the flora cypress exit. Go straight at the stop sign. You will see a bridge on your right a few miles up with a launch right across the bridge. That's about the middle of the lake but not much further to drive than the damn. He is right about mud but sometimes you can get above it.

Shell beach. Go south. Weightless lizard, Texas rig lizard. Fluke, brush hog. Use a light weight.

quote:No, and I have not heard of anyone being checked in 10 years. They cannot require that. It's public waters.
Haven't been checked?!?!

Alx just wants to use all the ConLaw he took. Little does he know that i have a blue card, and will deprive him of the opportunity if I am in the boat.

Been checked at least 5 times and that was before the fast boat. Oddly enough, none since then.

Do NOT speed either!! They LOVE writting speeding tickets. I've only gotten one and luckily got it fixed. But they do run radar.

They run radar on the water?

Yes they do. Speed limit is 40 and on busy days the have two patrol boats plus they have a office on the water on the west side a few miles north of she'll beach.

Oh yeah. He got me at 72 one day on a wide straight stretch with no other boats in sight. And, you woulda thought he caught me in the local elementary school parking lot with a truck load of dope and suckers!
