Hi all,

I'm looking for guidance. I can't stand to watch LSU on tv all season. I've never been to TS and need to make a trip.

Any idea for good games?

Looking at the schedule I'm aiming to fly in on the Thurs before Alabama and leave after Mississippi St.

Any advice of a good place to stay for Easy access to TS?

Anything 400 and below is best seats in the house and for Bama tickets you will be looking at anywhere from 150-1500, 150$ tickets being nose bleeds and up... Best hotels to stay are probably 4-5 miles from the stadium.

Absolutely serious!

It's better if I'm there in person. My flat mates don't appreciate me shouting at the tv at 3am on a Tuesday morning (that was the bcs game). Time difference sucks!

Tickets will vary, but the guy above was pretty close for Bama. You should be able to find a Miss State ticket for a good price. Best hotels are off of college drive (I think you can search for them that way)

LSU has several hotels on campus, but those rooms will fill up early. You can try the Lod Cook Hotel or the LSU Faculty Club.

If those are full, you should probably try downtown Baton Rouge. A lot of live music and restaurants there and it's about a 3 mile walk from there to LSU along the Mississippi River Levee walking path.

Good bama tickets will be about $250 each at a fair price. Miss. St. Will be about $50.

Good Bama tickets this year will be around $250+, depending on where both teams are ranked by game-day. If you really want to do this right, I'd book a hotel in New Orleans, somewhere on the edge of the quarter, like Le Pavillion, so you can sleep. Then, I'd rent a car (limo) and drive up on game day. You're welcome at our tailgate out in Touchdown Village II. We've got a 34-foot RV and about 20+ folks, all ages. Spend game-day morning on campus. Go see Mike, watch the team/band come down the hill.

Keep posting as the season approaches and you'll get some good...and bad...advice. Watch the Ticket Exchange for tickets. Go to the Food and Drink Board for rec's regarding food ideas, other than taigating on games days which is a "must".

Thanks for all the responses!

Tailgating will definitely happen. I appreciate the offer!

The info was great. I'm trying to get a budget for the trip.. Looks like with tickets it'll probably be about 3k dollars... It's a lot but I don't think I could Take it if I missed this upcoming season. This 2012 will be so good!

My biggest question is what game can I go to that will be a night game? It's going to have to be Towson or some crappy game like that. I hate traveling from Maryland and the game getting switched to daytime.
Not much I can do but go see less than worthy opponent where the game won't be moved.
Unless I drop the bucks to see Bama.

Jim, in this day and time almost every game has the possibility of being moved for TV. Last year we ended up going to Baton Rouge on 5 Friday nights due to early kick offs where in years past there may have been 2-3 games we attended that were moved to afternoon kickoffs. Stay flexiable and start drinking on Thursdays and you should be fine. Oh and London guy, post again when you firm up plans and I will post what we are serving at our tailgate so you can join us!!! Geaux Tigers!!!

Living in Minnesota, and going to 5 or 6 Tiger games per year, I think I know something about ticket prices for the games. I believe that you received some misleading info.

First of all, find yourself a seating map of Tiger Stadium. If you must sit in the upper deck due to financial constraints, choose one of the first rows! For Alabama, you'd be fortunate to get that ticket for less than $300.

Lower Bowl seats along either sideline are good, but pricey. End zone seats are much less expensive and not totally undesireable. For Alabama game, a sideline lower bowl seat will cost you at least $600, probably more.

You might save money by cruising the ticket exchange here on TD or at Dandy Don's.

To get a feel for prices, the biggest selection is at Subhub. It is expensive to do business with them for both the buyer and the seller, but the inventory of seats and prices is excellent.

For the MSU game, expect to pay about half of what you pay for Alabama.

Geaux Tigers!

Bama, per the CBS/ESPN agreement before the 11/5 game. But they changed things at the last minute then so who knows for sure.

As someone said earlier in the thread, college drive, particularly constitution avenue will be your best bet. I believe there are 3-4 hotels on that strip.

Thanks for all the info. It's really helping me plan the trip!

My girlfriend is from LA. I got into it through her family. I love the whole thing, there isn't anything like it in England!

We get most games live (missed ole miss and west Kentucky last season and I think Florida was on about 6 hours delayed). Ive actually been to see mike last summer but I need to go on game day. I would also wanna be in the lower bowl if possible. Im really looking forward to tailgating! I anticipate lots of 'wtf' questions when people hear me talk though haha.
