In Number of rings? Yes.
In talent? no
In accuracy? no
In ability to elevate a team? no
In passing yards? no
In shear dominance? no

The Giants D helped them to those 2 Superbowls.

This, Brees with the Giants D would be unstoppable.

some awfully good and well reasoned posts today. It's like the tards have been pushed back. How bout Giants D with Saints O? That's dynastic! That's the beauty of a real salary cap and parity though- no one can build an overwhelmingly dominant team anymore.

only morons are the intellectually lazy would say Eli is over Brees.

If Gronk catches that hail mary, you wouldn;t even ask, that should tell its a stupid question.

It's absurd that you are even asking this question. At the beginning of the season, people would have ranked Eli no higher than 10th of the starting quarterbacks in the league. Now, all of a sudden, he's a Hall of Famer?

I like Eli, and I've always been a fan, but this is just ridiculous. He played very good football at the end of the season, but better than Brees? Get real!

here's my biased answer: no
here's my unbiased answer: no
here's my answer if eli wins another ring and drew doesn't: no

super bowl rings is a measure of a quarterback's greatness, but it's not the only one.

Not sure why you're even asking this question. I'm guessing you're basing it on the reasoning of number of Super Bowl rings. If that's the case, using your logic, you think Trent Dilfer is ahead of Dan Marino.

Not no but hell no. Eli is great, even elite among the big 4 in the NFL. But he isn't better than anyone in that top 4 except maybe his big bro. Peyton is perhaps the most overrated playoff QB ever.

Brees has thrown out of his mind in the playoffs

Brady has 3 SB rings and is clutch

Aaron Rodgers is the youngest, won a SB and had a mind boggling season this year. And he improves every year is the scary thing...

Peyton Manning is perhaps one of the greatest QBs ever...except when the playoffs roll around

Eli Manning is a great QB. Maybe not as talented as the other guys on the list but he is clutch when you need it

I'd rank them right now, as in ability as of now:

1. Aaron Rodgers
2. Drew Brees
3. Tom Brady
4. Eli Manning
5. Peyton Manning

So if you had to pick either Eli or Peyton for one season, assuming Peyton is healthy, you'd pick Eli? Well ok...

You damn straight. Peyton Manning is a amazing regular season QB. When the playoffs roll around, he chokes it up. I can't tell you how many years he cost his team in the game in the playoffs. Hell, his sole SB ring, he choked those playoffs up. I remember him throwing constant INTs costing his team big in clutch situations. That was one reason the Patriots were such a huge rival to them, Peyton always looked horrible in the playoffs. Hell, the AFC Championship game Peyton threw like 3 picks in that game when they won the SB. His defense came up with a miracle play towards the end that elevated them to success. Then SB was history because they were playing a vastly inferior opponent.

Clutch situation against NO and he threw the game winning TD against the Saints.

Got knocked out of the playoffs multiple years by boneheaded TOs from HIM.

Would I rather Eli on my team over Peyton? Yes. And the SB rings prove it because when it matters, Eli makes the plays.

I hate the "more rings" logic. It's downright stupid. especially in a sport like football

Yea, the more rings logic is bad.

But it is a perfect explanation when the QB makes plenty of clutch plays to get them those rings.

Eli's throw last night and the previous SB basically were the two plays of each game...

Those plays basically set them up for a win. Clutch man, clutch. All about being clutch in the playoffs.

So I guess you'd rather Eli and Big Ben over Drew, because they won when it mattered. I mean, the fact that Peyton often had a shitty d doesn't mean anything. He still should have won all by himself.

Anyone that would take Eli over Peyton seriously doesn't know what they are talking about. I don't often say opinions are wrong, but Peyton is one of the best quarterbacks of all time.

Does Drew have a shitty defense? Yes. Was Drew still throwing out his mind to put his team in position to win games in the playoffs? Yes. Was Peyton pressing too hard and costing his team in key situations? Yes.

And no I didn't say Big Ben or Eli is better than Brees. Get some fricking reading comprehension skills. Eli is definitely elite with the top 4 though.
