Nat'l Championships have affected us as LSU fans

Do you remember when you asked yourself why Bama fans were such a$$holes about college football (probably, forever)? It's like they weren't happy unless they were winning nat'l championships. They were the worst fans towards their coaches after Bear. Nobody was good enough.
Now that LSU has won a NC lately, I have noticed that I expect them to compete every year. Nothing wrong with it, but now, after this year, it has affected me more than it ever has. I was not as emotionally involved until LSU won the 1st championship in 2003.
I certainly still think that Bama fans have a sense of entitlement more than any other SEC fans, but now I can see why that is. I am not excusing MIles for his total lack of preparation this past 01/09, but, as an LSU fan, the recent success has changed my expectations exponentially.
This has bothered me because it is like I can't accept this as just a game & move on. It's like I have to talk about the misery of Jan. 2012 all of the time.
Help! Does anyone have a wise word to help this LSU fan move on & look forward, no matter what happens in the future!

This is not a bad thing.
Show me a fan base without big expectations and I'll show you a program that doesn't win much.

But, hasn't the recent success revved up that much more?

Yes and that's a good thing.

I know that it is good that LSU is an elite program, but how is it good that I am miserable if LSU does NOT win a nat'l championship a month after we lost.
Hey, I guess your are right, if you want to be at the top, you have to be able to deal with the disappointments, too??

It's good because it means the measuring stick that we hold the program to is higher than it used to be. Much higher. The culture has changed. Yeah i know it sucks right now but trust me this is a good thing in the long run.

I've tried to explain this phenomena to folks for years. When you're successful year in and year out, you expect it. When you expect it your teams play like it and everything is elevated. Welcome to the club.

So, now I have live with it?

Yeah we just have to root for a playoff now so we can get a chance to return the favor to them one day. May take 10 or 15 or even 20+ years but with a playoff we will one day get a chance to knock them out, I know it.

Holy shite, this shite is getting old.

I think this is total bullshite. LSU fans want to win...yes. We have the talent where we expect to win...why not? Who wouldn't? 1/9 was an embarrassment. We were not competitive...nor did we TRY to be competitive. That's what people get pissed about. People get worried when they think that ineptness affects recruiting. We have seen the other side of our situation and we DAMN sure don't want to go back.

Pretty good summary of the rant.

It's was our 3rd trip to the BCS NG in 9 years. That's really, really good.
Move on.
Move on.

You don't have to do anything. No one is making you talk about it. You choose to do so.
This isn't a knock on you by any means. Just saying that with all that is accomplished, there will be some disappointments. It's inevitable.
I'm a huge Tiger fan and like everyone else, was disappointed in that game. Next season's first kickoff can't get here soon enough!
