It actually pisses me off whenever I see that. If you're too stupid to realize that you can unscrew the handle from a spinning reel and swap it to the other side then you don't deserve to be on a boat.

And for a guide captain to let a customer continue to do this is reprehensible!

I think it's done on purpose. Kinda like holding a pistol sideways.

Great picture. Photographer must be pretty tall.

My FIL and I got into a school of reds like that a decade ago when coming back from the near rigs to East Timbalier. It is something I'll never forget. We managed to boat 3 of them and in the span of around 10 minutes we lost the tackle off of all 6 rods that were rigged up when we got into the school. They hit anything thrown into the water immediately and they were damn big reds.

The school confused the hell out of me at first - "how the hell can there be rocks out here when we are more than a mile off the beach?"
