same i never saw any star treck before the 2009 film, but i felt like that movie filled me in on everything i needed to know and i wasnt confused at all. so i will definitely check this one out... in like 4 years im guessing

Well considering it was basically a reboot, it would be a pretty shitty one if you needed prior ST knowledge to understand it...

Really liked the first one, and I had never watched any of the Star Trek shows or movies. Not saying that the previous works are a prerequisite; as mentioned, the movie was a reboot. My reason for saying that is the movie was good enough to get me to go back and watch the shows. Definitely excited to see where they go with 2.
