Not even close. Russel is almost as athletic as rose.

I'm going to disagree. And I'm a Duke fan. In what ways is he equal? Maybe in a few more seasons, but right now, Rivers can't hold RWs jock

You deduced this from his 3/10 shooting for 6 pts tonight?

I looked at the box score to the Duke game expecting him to have had a big game based on this thread. I was disappointed.

not really similar,at all

I just wanted to hear some opinion. Rivers is still developing and he has a ways to go as an all around player. He gets to the rack just about whenever he wants. Can shoot. I think he can be a better scorer, but as of now is no where near as athletic

Rivers can't even handle the point position at the college level.

The only things that Rivers shares with Westbrook is an outstanding first step and a desire to take a lot of shots.

He actually isn't quite the chucker opposing fans claim, but he has no intuition when it comes to running the point. And unlike Westbrook, he isn't very muscular so I think he will have trouble finishing in the lane against NBA bigs. He already struggles in some games in college.

Now Mason Plumlee, who I criticize a lot on this board, just played the best game of his life. He looked like a future NBA All-Star, but the next time he plays this well, it will be the second time in his career, so let's not get too carried away with that, either.

In my opinion, Westbrook might be the most athletic player in the NBA. Actually, it's probably someone who really sucks at basketball but is a freak athlete like Dahntay Jones or someone like that, but I'll take good court awareness and vision all day over slightly better verticals and sprints.

At least Maynor knows how to be a solid back-up point. I have no clue what Rivers will do in the NBA. His biggest hope is to beat everyone on his first step and get clobbered going to the hoop. Even then, he is only a 68% foul shooter.

Best case scenario: Slightly shorter, more athletic Kevin Martin.
