To make a long story short I have been saying for about a year now that I was going to breed my dog this time she went in heat. Wellllll she is in heat and I am thinking hard about breeding her.

Here is the catch: My wife and I are looking to relocate to Shreveport and are both currently doing interviews and job searching. I am betting that we will both get jobs in Shreveport before the puppies would be born. I would be temporarily living in my MIL house until we found a house to buy up there(hopefully not to long).

Question: Should I or should I not breed her and take the chance I would have to keep the pups in my MIL back yard?

Thanks in advance!

With the moving and all that, I'd wait until next year, but that's just me.

Unless the MIL doesn't care if you have the pups. Ask her.

The first 4 weeks, the pups are a lot of work, after that the trouble and mess they cause grows by the day. Might be difficult to sells pups with everything else going on...

If it was me I would wait.

Countless litters of pups have been raised outside, or in barns, etc.

Not worried about the pups being outside as much as I am about being in the back yard of my MIL and hassling her.. She had a black lab that just passed away right before Christmas so I am almost positive she would say it is fine but I am just worried about hassling everyone..

I have not run her in any trials.. I always have though about it but never pulled the trigger.. I am breeding her with Chopper from bayou labradors.

and she is 3 going to be 4 in july so I would be able to breed her next time she goes in heat...

because there isn't much money to be made in dog breeding

I am not doing it for the money although it will be nice... I want to breed her and keep a female for myself so that I will always have my own pups and keep my dogs bloodline and such with me...

There is alot of money to be made in dog breeding. I have made good money doing it and have lots of friends that do it also. If you know what you are doing and have quality dogs, it is easy and lucrative.

Update:

I talked with the wife last night and we have decided to just wait until the next time she goes into heat.. She would've had to go to the vet immediately for monitoring so they could breed her when most fertile and we decided against putting her up and taking the chance that we would have to raise the pups at her mom's house... O well it will be around Christmas when the pups are due..
