the biggest thing I get from that is- we got him! It's becoming a well established fact but the older a Saints fan you are the more mind blowing it is: The Saints are a premier team, elite franchise, that both players and coaches are anxious to be a part of. He is a heavy duty back east guy. He sounds like a Boston gangster. He has strong ties to Philly & Andy Reid. He didn't shy away from admitting he had other options. He came here because it was the best winning situation. Duely noted: Golden Age of Saints football effect.

This is what stood out most to me. I feel like we have a lot of players like this and would be great to get any kind of similar production.

In his second year, Spagnuolo's New York defense was even better, according to most key NFL statistics. In both seasons, the Giants had top-10 defenses, and in 2007 led the NFL with 53 sacks. In 2008, New York ranked sixth with 42 sacks. The Giants also saw improvement from players under Spagnuolo's leadership. Defensive end Justin Tuck, for example, had played in 20 games, getting one sack and one forced fumble in the two years before Spagnuolo's arrival. In two years with Spagnuolo as coordinator, Tuck played in 32 games with 22 sacks and five forced fumbles.

"Quite honestly, there's strands in our particular defense, and I say, 'ours,' because this will not be a 'Steve Spagnuolo defense.' It will be, 'ours,' and by that I mean the New Orleans Saints," he said.

sounds like hes trying to separate himself from the GW form of defensive coaching the past few years.

If the Saints field a top 15 defense next season, They finish 14-2 and win the Super Bowl.

And we feel very, very fortunate to be going to a place that has had the success they've had in New Orleans.

10 years ago I would have never thought that I would see any Coach of any quality say this statement. My, how times have changed.

IIRC, Loomis and the Scouting team are the only ones in Mobile.

People say this, but either the 07 or 08 season we fielded a top 8 offense AND defense and missed the playoffs.

Yes, but the offseason is the season of hope.
