Seras's transformation was incredible, her full rage on the Nazi vampire was one of the most intense scenes I've seen in anime. I mean that from an emotion and violence standpoint. I know there are other incredibly violent scenes many of which are just senseless though.
I know, right?

Episode 7 is such an amazing episode.

She is fighting the vampire aspect of herself up until that point and then she finally gives in and becomes death.

I love that scene.

There is a lot of badass left too though. 8-10 are fricking awesome as well.

The rewatch and finally seeing the final episodes of Hellsing Ultimate did not disappoint. Episode 7 was definitely my favorite, Seras's memories of what happened to her family and then her going into that rage was just fantastic viewing.

Did wish they would let the Major suffer and keep him alive to just rot without the satisfaction of his death. Making him live and then witness Alucard's return would have been bittersweet. Great anime's like this always leave the end open, wish they would confirm the relationship between Integra and Alucard. Also wanted them to give more reason to why he turned Seras and why it was so out of character for him.

Even with those questions it's still a fantastic series.

Been a while since this has been bumped.

New anime updates.

If you haven't seen it yet, check out Yona of the Dawn.

It is at episode 11 and I'm really liking it so far.

I just started watching My Little Monster and Steins Gate. Now that I'm done with school I should be able to watch the backlog of shows and movies I want to see.

I've got a lot of shows I want to watch and hopefully I can find the time soon.

Crunchyroll is easily one of the best subscriptions I've purchased.

Definitely worth it.

How is My Little Monster? I don't normally watch shows like that, but after Toradora, I'll give anything a shot.

It's pretty good. If you like school rumble you'll probably like it. The comedy is not as zany and slapstick as SR tho.

Finished My Little Monster. Really liked it and am quite disappointed that they stopped at one season. Have to get the rest from the manga now.

About to finish up with Fullmetal Alchemist on Netflix. Of course, they just took off Brotherhood a week or so ago so I'll either have to download or wait til they put it back. I have Psycho-Pass and Attack on Titan in my list so I'll probably start on that next. I've heard they're both pretty good.

I realize that. I can't justfiy paying for a membership because through most of the year I likely wouldn't be watching anything. After watching something last night, it looked like 3 or 4 ads for crunchyroll after the main theme with a couple more breaks on the time bar.

I realize what they are doing and why. It's just annoying compared to a year ago when the free version still only had one commercial at the beginning.

Psycho-Pass
Watch it first. The show is top 5 for me. 10/10 IMO. Halfway through the first season, there is one moment that just shocks the hell out of you. Amazing.

Also, they are definitely doing a 2nd season.

Attack on Titan
Really good. Some great animation and action sequences though. Definitely watch it.

My only complaint with it was that it left so much, story-wise, to be desired. Hopefully they come out with another season.

I get what you are saying. I watch all kinds of crap on there daily though.

Have you checked out Yona of the Dawn yet? Show is really good.

Also, do you want a 48 hour free guest pass? Apparently I can gift it to someone.

I've got a login, and I added it to my list from this thread. Probably your rec. Haven't watched it though.

I've had a lot of trouble getting into some of these newer anime that look like they were done with computer aid for whatever reason. I grew up watching all the old stuff that was hand drawn, and even though some of it seems more crude, I guess that's what I prefer.

I have probably 10 series downloaded on my computer from recent years that were recommended somewhere in this thread that I never seem to get around to watching.

Apparently they sent me an offer for one this morning after I logged in and watched something last night.

Anyone check out Akame Ga Kill yet?

It's really good

It does deviate from the manga(which you should definitely check out too and is imo better) towards the end though.

Also tokyo ghoul is fantastic.

Why no psycho pass on the list?

Scruffy, do you have any recs for a beginner trying to understand why people watch this shite?

I haven't updated that list in forever.

And, yes, I could give you some recs.

Movies:

Anything by Studio Ghibli
- Spirited Away
- Howl's Moving Castle
- Princess Mononoke
- Castle in the Sky
- Kiki's Delivery Service

Others:
- Ghost in the Shell
- Akira
- Redline (the most amazing hand drawn animation I've ever seen)
- Tale of the Princess Kaguya (I haven't seen it yet, but it's up for an Oscar and at 100% on rotten tomatoes)

I would start with the Studio Ghibli movies. Go with Howl's Moving Castle first. Christian Bale does a great job voice acting in it.

As for shows, what kinda genre we talking about here?

Comedy, action, horror, slice of life, etc.?

I don't know. My new bf watches this crap and I'd like to not just make run of him.

I prefer comedy usually. He's watching psycho pass, which is why I mentioned it

I see.

Hmmm...

I'm not really that big into the comedy shows. My sense of humor is a bit more weird than most.

Guessing you are using Netflix, right?

The comedy list on there is short and has some weird shows on it.

Maybe these:

Okami-san and Her Seven Companions
Ouran Host Club (never seen it, but it seems popular)

Kotoura-san is pretty good and one of the few that I've actually watched some of. The first episode is pretty damn sad.

Someone on here said My Little Monster was good. I never watched it.

Other shows on Netflix:

Attack on Titan (extreme action, very bloody)
Eureka Seven (science fiction, action)
Sword Art Online (action, adventure)

As for why I watch this stuff...

Because I enjoy it.

I hate reality television. If I'm going to watch something, it has to be story driven, a characteristic that many recurring shows lack. I also find that there is a lot that can be done with animation that actors can't physically do in real life.

And there you go.

ETA: They don't have shite movie-wise on Netflix. Should've thought of that when I gave those recs.

Trigun: Badlands Rumble is a decent movie.
