So, I was thinking about starting Jormungand. I heard it was a political Black Lagoon.

Any good?

I also got caught up with Space Dandy and I really liked the newest episode. It definitely felt like a Bebop episode, and set up the story for a new crew member in the future if they want to go in that direction

I liked the newest one too. I'm not understanding how episodes fit together though. Are they all standalone? Or was the translation error in the first episode why I'm not getting it? The last zombie episode ended with the entire universe being zombies.

I have a feeling its going to be like many other animes, where the first few episodes have no real influence on the plot, but are just used to introduce and familiarize the audience with the characters and show style.

While it hasn't been stated outright, it's been implied by the first episode and the ED that:

WARNING, SPACE DANDY SPOILERS AHEAD. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Since the warp drive was broken when they originally used it, the Aloha Oe split off into two continuities/dimensions and continues to do so after every warp. There is one continuity in which everyone lives and the story progresses, while there is another where one or more of the crew ends up dying. So in the cases of Episodes 1, 3, and 4, you can consider those dead end continuities. Whereas in episode 2, Dandy and Meow somehow survive the search for the space ramen. Then, in episode 5, you have Dandy surviving his run-in with Adelie and helping her find her grandfather. This is so far just a theory, but the evidence is pretty solid at this point.

END OF SPOILERS. HAVE A NICE DAY

Edited for minor grammar errors

I ended up reading the first 3 chapters of Punpun. I'm definitely gonna have to take my time with it because I can see things taking a terrible turn out of nowhere. It just seems like that kind of manga.

This is the case. The first few chapters aren't bad at all. I ended up getting hooked and read about 60 chapters in one night.

I finished volume 1 and haven't had time for more since then. That was a hell of a cliffhanger, but I'm resisting the urge to keep going because I have two tests tomorrow that I need to study for

ETA: I may or may not have ended up reading 108 chapters yesterday

So many feels. But I cant stop reading. Chapter 118 now. This is insane but im loving everything about this story. I cant really decide how I feel right now. It's depressing, while giving hope, only to have it crushed again before something relatively good happens again

im really conflicted but I'll almost certainly end up finishing today since I only have 30 chapters left to read. Then I'll probably go watch the moest and most uplifting anime possible to heal myself

I think what has engrossed me the most is that Punpun's life has hit a little too close to home for me, in some aspects and I really want to know how it plays out for him

I had to talk about the plot for a long time to get myself out of that same funk.

This is also what makes it so popular and good. The story is done so well and the characters, while insane, are very relate-able. I'm not a big fan of the author's story telling style, but still great.

ETA: Done, heart in lots of pain, send help :wah: :wah: :wah:

Glad to see Rukia's character develop more than being pretty much helpless.

Pretty intense watching the situation with he and Sakura at the moment.

I just started watching Attack on Titan, pretty good so far. I'm about 6 or 7 episodes in and things are starting to get messy.

I thought there maybe was something like that happening when I read about a translation error. Thanks though.

Alright, you seem to like the action types. I tend to stick with that genre as well, but a lot of my favorites are pretty bloody (if that isn't a problem for you).

Here are some of my recs in that genre:

Black Lagoon - One of my favorites. Involves a smuggling company known as Black Lagoon Company based in the fictitious, crime-ridden city of Roanapur. Great gun action sequences and character development. Revi is one of my favorite anime characters.

Darker than Black (Season 1 only) - A supernatural incident has resulted in the creation of amoral individuals, aka contractors, with special abilities.

Trigun - Vash the Stampede is an unstoppable gunmen with a 60 billion double dollar bounty on his head in this western-style anime. One of the classic animes you should watch.

Bacccano! - Probably my favorite anime. Plenty of action and comedy elements. Once you start, you won't be able to stop until it is over. You don't get a description of this one. Just watch it.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Based off of one of the greatest movies in anime, Ghost in the Shell. It involves the same characters, with some slight design differences, as they function in the secret government organization known as Section 9. Really good show.

Hellsing: Ultimate - This is an OVA series following the newly created vampire Seras Victoria and her master Alucard as they work for the Hellsing Corporation hunting down other vampires. VERY VERY BLOODY. Awesome show though. Seras is another one of my favorite characters. I highly recommend this one.

Here are some others that I really like, but I don't feel like continually writing descriptions.

Witch Hunter Robin
FLCL
Casshern Sins
Noir
El Cazador de la Bruja
Claymore
Souleater

Some of the other guys in this thread are more versed in anime than I am, so they may be able to help you out a little more.

I have a bunch of movie recs to if you want those as well. Just ask.

He didn't mention Samurai Champloo. You would probably like it if you like Cowboy Bebop.

And again I'll recommend Berserk.
