Anyone ever use Taxslayer?

I usually use HR BLock...but wind up paying well over $100 for Fed/State. (Online)

Saw an add that Taxslayer is $10

How hard is it to do taxes if you have investments you need to list? I don't want to pay a ton to go to some place to do them.

Last year it cost $198 but I was out in about 30 minutes.

If you want a good tax return that will give you a refund/decrease tax liability an withstand an IRS audit, don't expect it to come cheap.

I used it for my stepdaughter's very basic return a couple of years ago but I would not use it for anything other than that.

This. My old accountant, he died , charged $1000 an hour but I will tell you it was the best money I ever spent! One year I made over $250,000 with MINIMAL write-offs, went exempt all year, and he STILL got me $4000 back for "SS overpayment"! I was a W2 employee at the time and he would change me to a 1099 and say that I was only W2 due to the state laws and in fact I should be 1099 and then he would make everything a business expense. He had been pretty high up at IRS for a long time before he went out on his own so they didn't really mess with his returns. God I miss him!

I'll ask again...why would anyone who e-files using a TurboTax/Taxslayer/Tax Act product pay to have them file your state taxes?

I file self-employed & W-2 wages & use Turbo Tax. I file my taxes each year with the state for free on DOR's website.

It's the most ridiculously user-friendly website interface you could imagine. Its overly simple. It doesn't cost a dime.

Why would anyone who did their own taxes not utilize it?
