What do you have to do to play old Xbox games on Xbox 360?

If you have a hard drive and are on Xbox Live, your 360 will play 80%+ of original Xbox games. If you don't own the games, there are a bunch of original Xbox games you can download to your hard drive with Microsoft Points.

Yep.

eta: I believe you have to have a hard drive because the 360 doesn't play Xbox games the same way the Xbox did. It plays them like an emulator. Most hard drives will already have the emulation files needed, but if you're on Xbox Live, you'll get an update that gives you the files.
