Is there a way to tell my squad to do specific task other than with the D-Pad and move, rally, take cover, and target? Doesn't each class have specific talents?

Yeah, when you access the wheel menu to use any powers that aren't hot-keyed, you can tell your squaddies to use their powers as well. In the end, it's not really worth the extra effort to do so because the teammate AI in ME1 and ME2 is just so poor.

Is that mainly due to it being an older game? I just got ME and ME2. Don't tell me they both suck!

I didn't think they sucked at all

Mainly on this issue the "followers" usually default and use their strengths pretty well on their own.

Loved having the one chick in ME2 levitate folks and then I could blow them out of the air.

Don't get me wrong, the games are awesome. It's just the people you bring along on the missions are pretty helpless in combat. Standing in the open, ignoring commands, taking cover where you are (thus kicking you out), etc.

Yeah, I've kinda noticed that

I was running up a hill and the one guy said "terrain is too rough" so I had to run back and turn him around and get him. WTF

That is how I played them. I think I enjoyed them even more for doing it that way.

I know this. I played ME2, then ME1, then ME2 again. Finding out what the frick happened after playing me1 again was awesome.

I used to only have a PS3 so ME2 was the only one I could play, I finally got a 360 and am in the process of playing ME1. I'm probably going to get ME2 on 360 and play through it again just so all my decisions can carry over.

First off, grammar fail on your part.

Secondly, I'm playing ME1 right now. When that's finished I'm going to play ME2, hence the "Mass Effect Question" title and not "ME2 Question" title.

Mass effect refers to the series, mass effect one or two refers to those specific games. Ex:metal gear solid is amazing! Does that mean I'm referring to metal gear solid one? NO

Some people who have phones that are capable of browsing and posting tend to negate punctuation. I'm sorry if it bothers you while you are behind your keyboard at work on tiger droppings. I'm sure there is something you could be doing to better the company instead of policing a message board for missing punctuation.
