I10 @ Causeway - Shutdown from 5AM to 3PM on Sunday

I'm guessing that most natives will know about this, but I'm going down this weekend and just found out...sounds like it's gonna be FUN.

Hey...this is gonna suck

they have been regularly closing the lanes causing a huge issue but you barely see any work being done. it is just lovely.

5 minutes of work...15 minute break.

Also, do yourself a favor and Google image search "construction worker lazy" with SafeSearch turned off. Results 3 and 4 are not too shabby.

They shut down traffic while they lift pieces of the new over cross spans so that no one is killed if a piece falls while being attached and inspected. You wouldn't typically see many people during this process. The actual lifting (erection) of the precast concrete and or structural doesn't take long. It is the completion of the welding at each connection that takes a while.

i drive that every day and i actually am somewhat impressed over the progress they have made since i moved here in june.

and the reason they haven't done more is they won't close lanes when an event is going on in the superdome, ie saints games
