So, do we now think about bringing Larry Porter onto the staff?

If Miles can make this happen, it needs to be done.

not much. the stigma will never be gone from what he did and other coaches will use it against him.

why?

He was never a great X&Os coach, and we already have a better recruiter on staff.

Porter is just as good of a recruiter as Frank is, and it would be great to have 2 of the best recruiters in the business on staff.

I say yes we need as many cut throat recruiters as we can get on staff because outside of Wilson there is nobody on staff that is actually doing their job. At this point LSU is selling itself to the guys we got. We need guys who can go to other states and make those kids feel as if they grew up in LA. If Auburn can get away with what Trooper Taylor does and Bama with their guys as well at FSU I see no reason why we cant. Its an ugly business and sometimes you need to have the extra fire power to get things done.

my bad. was thinking of Haywood. Porter just was miserable as a head coach at memphis.

The players hated porter. I know that for a fact. Some former RB's ended their careers not even talking to their own position coach. That's not what we need at LSU. I don't care if he can recruit or not.. We'll find someone better.

I don't care if they hated Porter or not, he got the talent here. Kids don't always love playing for someone, but thats just something you have to put up with in the game.

Don't be stupid. The talent comes here whether Porter is here or not. We were one of the most if not the most talented team in the country this year. Porter is a great recruiter but there are other great recruiters out there who are also great coaches.

We were one of the most talented teams in the country, and a lot of that has to do with Porter being here.To have him and Frank on the same staff would be EPIC

For one, current staff that worked with him here dislike Porter.

For two, he & Wilson don't get along.

For three, we aren't missing out on talent and producing better productivity out of the tailback position than at any time he was here.

I had no idea Porter was so disliked. I dot know how I would've missed this, but what was the problem? Is it arrogance or something more than that?

Porter was a terrible RB coach and refused to allow the best talent to play. He played favorites way too much and our running game improved when he left.

we ABSOLUTELY need to bring back porter or someone of his quality in recruiting. the defensive guys are GREAT coaches, talent evaluators, and player development. they are average AT BEST at recruting. we need porter EXCLUSIVELY in texas and replace ensminger with a quality recruiter.

oos recruits SO FAR, avery, alexander, ferfuson, hunter, mills.

this is not acceptable for a team that was no. 1 in BCS for entire season.

LETS SEE HOW WE FINISH STRONG!
