You talking 1972 (John Wayne)? Yes, it's a very good film. Glad to see there is a fellow "western" fan here...

Great John Wayne/coming of age film. Saw this for the first time when I was like 10...The stuttering scene is classic. Bruce Dern is great, and it's interesting to see guys that would later go on to soap opera and nerd prominence as kids.

My first time watching it was yesterday and it really was great. Watching three Duke movies this weekend (McLintock, The Cowboys, and The Shootist) really showed his range.

Hadn't seen that one. At first I thought you were talking about Cowboy with Glenn Ford & Jack Lemmon.

Watched this movie religiously growing up.

Small fact: The small kid that wasn't tall enough at the beginning. Clay O'Brien Cooper, 7 time National Champion team roper.

It is a really good movie.

Jebediah Nightlinger was much more than a cook.

"I have the inclination, the maturity, and the wherewithal, but unfortunately, I don't have the time."

"I regret trifling with married women. I'm thoroughly ashamed at cheating at cards. I deplore my occasional departures from the truth. Forgive me for taking your name in vain, my Saturday drunkenness, my Sunday sloth. Above all, forgive me for the men I've killed in anger and those I am about to."

"Ohhh, children... My father was a brawny Moor, six feet six inches tall. He bound his head in a red velvet cloth, he wore a curved sword, forged from the finest Toledo steel. He captured a lady, bright and dark. he took her in his arms and wrapped her in a warm quilt and carried her off. They came to a castle and he battered down the doors with the trunk of an oak tree and KILLED EVERYBODY IN IT, just so they could rest the night. Later, while she slept, he walked the parapets... and became a king."

John Wayne's best performance as an actor IMO.

I prefer his 60's movies, where he'd pad out the cast with his friends, and they'd take pauses between each line, and the extras would all stare at the actors as they gave their dialogue... :)

Definitely one of my favorites.

**Spoiler Alert**

Isn't this one of the only two movies John Wayne gets killed in? Or is it three...
