I am a big SciFi fan and have never seen it, but I have heard mostly bad things...

Haven't seen the original in a long time. I liked the remake that came on the Sci-Fi network.

I tried to like it, but found it weak. Whenever I see it on TV, I skip that channel.

You see the main female character's tits. She's hot.

Ergo, yes.

Also, the movie is decent.

I read the books AFTER I saw the movie. If you read the books first, you won't be a fan.

It was HATED when it came out. Siskel & Ebert spent an enormous amount of time slamming the movie.

It definitely has the cheesy 80s feel to it with some terrible acting (looking at you Sting).

The director's cut is better and explains things more than the theatrical cut.

I like the movie, but understand anyone who hates it.

I actually like the Movie better than the sci-fi mini-series but that is worth a viewing and they combined book 2 and 3 into another mini-series.

Nothing great but good to kill some time.

That depends on how much you like the source material really.

But since science fiction is also about new possibilities, then any fan of sci fi would want to watch any attempt by someone like Lynch.

Okay movie if you haven't read the books.

If you know the source material, you'll be sorely disappointed.

See the funny thing is everyone says that but my Dad who's a huge sci-fi fan, used to have our house littered with books. He's the one that got me into the movie Dune. He read the book back when it came out when he was in college and even though he did say the book was better he seemed to really like the movie.

I never read the book but the movie is one of those nostalgia favorites of mine mostly because of found memories watching it with my Dad. I had never seen anything like it before and remember asking him a billion questions trying to understand it.

Oh and I thought Sting was great in it, he scared me when I was young. But the fat dude was really creepy!

Its pretty weird and has some cool visuals so worth watching for that. I remember it being about 4 or 5 hours long though.

It's one of Lynch's weakest films, and was a bit dated when it came out; however, it's worth a look.
