As good as this football season was for LSU...

Next year has the potential to be even greater..i picked us to drop one game(at bama) and we won that one. Our schedule was ridiculous, but we went through unscathed, despite an inconsistent offense..but here's some good reasons we will be better next year
1. QB Position--Mettenberger
Finally a one man show at LSU. This guy has a cannon for an arm and expect Krags and the receivers coach to implement a lot more pro-style schemes to fit Mett's abilities. He will be able to get the ball out to Shepard, OBJ, Landry, Williams, Fobbs, Johnson etc. quickly, and our stable of running backs will benefit not only on the ground, but in the screen passes(Blue and Ford are great screen pass players)
2. Emergence of the "Sophomore Squad" on Defense
This is where if you are a defensive coordinator, you get are already pumped about next year. Most of LSU's playmakers on defense were merely SOPHOMORES last year. I'm talking about the new defensive end DYNAMIC DUO of Montgomery and Mingo. I'm talking about Tyrann Matheiu, a playmaker at corner, and smashmouth safeties Eric Reid and Craig Loston. I'm also talking about a very underrated defensive tackle in Bennie Logan, who is a force up front. These guys will be the seasoned leaders of a ferocious defense next year
3. Much easier schedule this year
Compared to this past year, this season's (2012's) schedule isn't bad at all. The second tier toughest games will be AT Florida and AT Auburn, two teams we annihilated last year. Our toughest game will no doubt be AT Arkansas at the end of the year. We win that, and I assume we'll be headed to Atlanta again. Get at least decent qb play from Mettenberger and we should roll through the schedule
4. Fresh Faces on both sides of the ball
Some new guys will undoubtedly get their shot to play next year.
On defense, i'm pumped about:
DT Mickey Johnson
DE Jermauria Rasco(who played good this year too)
DE Justin Maclin
DE Quinton Thomas
DT Ego Ferguson(could be a beast w/ more training)
S Ronnie Vinson
CB David Jenkins
CB Jalen Collins
LB Ronnie Fiest
On offense:
WR Jarrett Fobbs
WR Avery Johnson
WR Paul Turner
WR/QB Jerrard Randall
RB Terrance Magee
Any one of these guys could have an impact for LSU and i'm sure a lot of them will
5. The Want of Championships
Les and the team won't forget the embarrassment in the Superdome and will come out with a vengaence in 2012, out for blood, out to pillage villages and seek and destroy..whatever you want to call it..for a team that got so close to a championship this year...expect even greater things in 2012

The schedule LSU went through is unheard of and part of the reason this team was so special. I don't think another team will have a chance at one like that for a long time.

He's a QB bro. Don't be racist.

Are you forgetting that we play Bama again?
Posted on 1/13/12 at 1:29 pm to Powerman
Nope
But as much talent as they lose, im expecting sort of a 28-20 type game. They still have a good ground game and D but I think we win this one hands down.

Think we will still be ok in this area.

Yeah ya'll will be fine no doubt. It was just the suffocating defense this year that got it done. I expect bama to have a top 10 defense next year but not as good as this years.
