I'm not half as thick-skinned as I thought I was...
Posted by Lsupimp on 1/13/12 at 12:28 pm10
I didn't kick the dog, I didn't rage at the Gumps, I didn't curse Les Miles, I didn't slur Jordan Jefferson, I didn't plead with God, I wasn't mean to my kids, I didn't get surly with my wife.
Nothing changed for me.
My love for LSU football has not waned one iota.
But damn, I feel like shite.
I just can't get myself past MEH.
What does the Rant recommend ?
Suicide by anal rape recomendations will not be considered.

I'm pretty much in the same boat.
I'm starting to look back and see the 13, but right now it's tough to see anything other than the -1.
We had a better season than Bama, but the final act is all that ultimately mattered, after the set-up.
A great recruiting class will make things a little better...

Only thing that's gonna fully heal this blunder will be Bama coming into the a buzz saw next year at TS.
They better get their asses up for that game.

1)Winning Cures ALL
and WARNING - be prepared, if we go 13-0 next year and play for the NC, expect the news media to ask
"which LSU team will show up" and relive this year's NC game all over again.
2)Times eases the pain.
...and a lot of Rum 4 me.

My biggest issue is it was Bama. They are an insufferable group for the most part. A big win to them equals 30 years of entitlement and a misplaced sense of self worth and accomplishment. And I married into it.
I would have preferred to lose to OSU by 50.
It will get better. A positive outlook helps, compartmentalize your fandom from the rest of your life. The shitheads on this board don't make it easier. Maybe stay on the OT or fark board for a while.

Watch the Saints game on Saturday.

I sympathize. I can't break free of the sticky, poisonous lethargy either. Even since I spent my very first paycheck on season tickets over a decade ago, I've religiously trudged and trundled around the country following the Tiger football team. In shrieking planes, groaning trains, and a colorful array of rickety automobiles, I have come. I've slept on the floor in a thousand cramped hotel rooms, closed down at least as many bars, whiled away whole days to the metronomic patter of beer pong, shared high fives with the purple and gold legions from Tempe to Tuscaloosa, witnessed us win and lose and rise and fall. But I've never felt as disheartened as I do now. History was so close, and then it slipped irretrievably away. In New Orleans, no less. Sucks. I guess all I can do is wait and hope that the passion returns during the long summer slide.

for me it was not the team, or the score...
it was the manner in which we played / did not play and what seemed to be a surrender....
this is what's so damn hard to swallow

That you specifed a type of rape implies that there would be some other kind that would be acceptable. Give us more to work with

I'm exactly in this boat - although the depair has subsided quite a bit throughout the week ;)
I, like you, would've preferred to lose to ANYONE else. They took more than a freaking crystal ball from us Monday. But the beat marches on
