Planning a elk hunting trip in Colorado this year, will be camping on mountain for atleast a week. Most of trip will be stalking, was wondering what a good GPS with some good satellite maps and Topo maps would be. Had been looking at some lowrance and the Garmin Montana and Oregon. Good battery life is preferred, any info appreciated...TIA.

Check out the Garmin etrex 30 and Dakota 20. Both have a compass and altimeter and would save you quite a bit compared to the Oregon/Montana. Both have 25 hour life span. Just carry extra batteries. Looks like the Oregon/Montana both use a lithium battery that lasts 22 hours and can also use 3 AA's but only last 16 hours.
