I listened to Toddy McShay on Maisel's CFB podcast today break down the first game and different advantages each team could possibly have. He said that RR was consistently beating Bama's corners (all of them) and was open, Lee and Jefferson just couldn't hit him. Anybody else notice this? I know that a lot of you have rewatched the game of the century.

Randle is the best deep threat we have had in a while

I said it earlier and I'll say it again, Rueban and beat anybody they have on that secondary. I just hope we try to throw deep to them.

Maybe because Jefferson is great on the deep ball

i havnt rewatched the bama game, but randle appears capable of burning a secondary deep and creating separation.

i think that if our oline maintains some success moving the ball on the ground, and can protect jefferson for some play action, randle has to be the target of choice for a home run ball.

jefferson has an arm, the dude can throw. dont think that this will be an all option offense, jefferson will be slingin the he.

Not sure I agree with that. There weren't many deep shots called for him and he was bracketed most of the night if I recall.

Hope he is way more involved tonight than he was in the first game

If Randle really was owning their DBs in the first game then I'd expect to see a few big plays out of him tonight, main differences being the health of the OL and JJ having actually thrown some passes this season now prior to the game

this is true. randle had a quiet game because we didn't try to get him the ball. plays were there.

i think a big factor that the national analysts are missing right now is the injuries affecting each team. LSU's oline wasnt at full strength on Nov 5., and the reports are now that it is. I believe the olines health is evidenced now by LSU's success in running the ball against ark and georgia.

conversely, bama is a little nicked on defense right now, particularly their secondary. if the o-line is able to be successful in this game, im thinking LSU beats bama by more than touchdown.

Randal dropped a sure touchdown at the end of the 1st half that hit his open hands. I'm sure he won't make the same mistake with a draft pick order on the line.

i think that confidence is another advantage that LSU has in this game. i like Les' less controlling style, i think it is ultimately more empowering to the players than saban's "process" schtick. I think that the pressure of playing in this game is more of a motivator under miles whereas i believe saban may actually be undermining his teams self esteem.

throw in a bunch of added noise at the right time in the dome and i think the stars are aligning for LSU.

Agree. JJ's problem has not been arm strength per se, but rather timing. If he makes his decision (and throw earlier), we can really stretch the field. When deep balls are thrown late, even guys like Brees can be picked.

Pretty sure our QBs fail to see a lot of open receivers. Watched a couple minutes of the first game last night, and Danielson talked about how Deangelo Peterson was wide open deep and JJ didnt see him--didnt even look his direction. That was in the 2nd quarter and I can imagine it happens with RR too.

I didn't notice him being open that much, but I'll give McShay the benefit of the doubt. I think the big issue was Bama's pass rush got to us quickly. This usually means JJ tries and scrambles and Lee throws it up too early.

The spiral of the ball hit his hands in a way where he couldn't get any grip on the ball. The catch would have been hard, but he could have gotten it if the spiral would have been a little tighter.
