Another reason why athletes should stay off twitter
Posted by HumbleNinja on 1/7/12 at 11:44 pm00
LockDown717 Aaron Berry
"Y'all can go back to being Broke & Miserable...now back to regular scheduled programming..."
Berry dropped a sure INT tonight, but way to handle the heat well after a game... yikes

The Lions went from a feel good story early in the season to a team I hope falls back to ineptitude because they have a bunch of d-bag players other than Calvin Johnson.

Come on now they really aren't that bad. Suh does make an arse of himself to opposing fans, and Fairley is Fairley. I don't see why some on this board insist their such a terrible character team. Plenty of good people on the team.

Did he delete it?

Yep it seems he recently deleted it. Thankfully, that was really bad.

Your coach is as bad as angry butthurt message board posters on a regular basis....it's not helping your cause. Doesn't matter though..Detroit is just a running game and a defense from being a really good team.

It didn't click right away that his fans are all from Detroit. When it did, I lol'd out loud.

That's really bad. I dont know if he will be able to play there after that.

bad but likely true.
i cant imagine too many wealthy, satisfied people giving an athlete crap on twitter.

Looks like the Lions have PR people monitoring Twitter accounts now. Smart.

He seems to be doing a decently good at retracing his steps but still should have never opened his mouth/twitter in the first place.

Saved it!
settle down- he's allowed to protect himself and I guarantee what he said was nothing compared to what he had coming his way.
Everybody says athletes are stupid on twitter, but honestly if you could see some of their inboxes, you'd shite. People can be absolutely horribly disgusting and ignorant and do it unchecked. But when the athlete defends himself, he's the one in hot water.
Now I get that this is how that relationship goes, but everyone needs to keep incidents like this in context.
What Rocket said earlier is pretty true. Very few smart and well off people talk shite to celebrities on Twitter.

more than anything, there needs to be education on how to EFFECTIVELY get your point across, while minimizing the heat that can come on you.
This situation is a perfect example. You read it, and think that he's just bashing either NO, or Det as fanbases and cities. That's the instant reaction and the one he's going to pay for. Instead of having to backtrack and clarify, if he just mentions the people who are talking shite to him on Twitter, ALL of this is avoided.
I get that a lot of players aren't very eloquent, but with Twitter and Social media becoming as prevalent as they are, THIS has to be taught in order to avoid these situations.

if you don't have an ipad, you don't have a basic necessity

my point was valid. It has surpassed the 'luxury' item designation.
